Told my sister... pretty anticlimactic.

Well, wouldn't you know it. A few days after signing up - finally worked up enough courage to take the plunge. Thank you, all you wonderful people of Susan's! :D

So the story goes...

My sister was on the computer, and I asked her if she had two minutes and that I wanted to talk to her about something important. She turns to face me, and I start fidgeting and stuttering. Took maybe a minute to get a whole sentence out. Went something like this:

"Uh, remember when you asked me if I was gay?"

"Yeah, what about it? Are you gay?"

"I don't like guys. I like girls, but..."

"Hm?"

"I like girls, but I always see myself as a girl."

"What? You're not making sense."

"I'm transgender."

I take over the keyboard and quickly pop a search for the genderbread image. Pointed to each of the four parts and explained to her accordingly, so yeah. MTF trans who's lesbian.

She's like, "Wow. Just, wow. You're complicated. But I'm not surprised about the whole thing."

"Eh? Really?"

"Yeah, you always identified with girl characters, remember? Always!"

"Ah. You picked up on that?" (Hah, stupid me. I was panicking.)

"Uh-huh. So you're sure you don't like boys?"

"No. That I'm sure of." And then I make a weird face, as if I'm waiting for her to say something bad and discouraging, or worse, hitting me with a blunt object.

"It's okay, don't worry. Remember how I kept on asking you if you were gay? And I kept telling you I was fine with it? I love you and I support you no matter what."

:D

Everything after that was a bit of a blur, since I was on pretty much cloud nine. I do remember dropping more bombs, like how I was dressing up in her clothing and how I had my own makeup kit. :) We had a long talk - over an hour I think. Pretty cathartic, but pretty anticlimactic too. The best part is that I have her on board 100%! Yay!  :D

We worked out that I should stay as my old self for now, until I can work this out with a therapist, and get my financials in order. Oh, and that I should study abroad while I transition (too much drama doing it here, risking the news spreading like wildfire and all) and maybe stay there for good.

On a side note, personally, Boston sounds like a good idea to me. Anyone from there who can take me under their wings? :)

So there's my story. Thanks for reading! :)

Good for you :).

I love Boston.  It is fairly liberal and open minded, in the right parts.  If you are thinking of going there, there are great schools to choose from as well.

Go you. That's the good kind of reactions we like :)
