Excluding facial hair, how much did hrt alone help with hair removal?

I'm a bit broke, so I'm trying to save everything I have for daily living and put what I can towards my transition.  I should be able to afford laser for my face in due time without much issue, but I don't know if I could afford getting rid of all my body hair with laser at this point.  After reading some posts here today it got me wondering about how I should take on my body hair. Plus, it's annoying to have to shave all the time.  So I wanted to know if anyone out there was able to remove body hair with hrt alone.  I have met some who say this is not possible and others who have told me that it is.  Therefore, I don't know who to believe and would like to hear the personal experiences of fellow members here.  Did your body hair go way wth hrt alone or not?  If so, did it only lessen in its intensity or did it go away for the most part?

Thanks for any feedback. :)

Firstly, I have an IS condition, and YMMV as well, but:

3 monthes on spiro- 2.5 on EV- body hair is thinning out. What was once every two days to shave body hair is now once a week :D  my arms used to be chewbacca.  shaved em, and a month later its like natural female arm hair, very vellous.  as for legs- they grow bak a ton slower now. No more razor burn like i used to get, and when I do, its very very miniscule to the level my sister who i complained about it told me she gets those on her upper thigh too- just due to the fat content there ( i rock a size 9) but shaving to me, is no big deal.  facially- unless you have very tiny amounts or it never grew or it is jsut peach fuzz- removal seems to be nessecary via specialized means. I'm saving for laser too!

Keep in mind everyones bodies are different and vary on this stuff....but I'm sure you are aware of that!  Best of luck and wishes for ya hun!

This think this could use an visual objective measure.

So... in my case I've been on hormones for 4 years I think... I forget exactly how long. While I got lucky in some areas, Body and facial hair certainly wasn't one of them :( it's still a pain today, I'm hairy for a girl. I try to take solace that my sister has the same problem, it's my disgusting dad's genes. I've scolded my mum about it already.

That doesn't sound too bad.  I will try to get laser for body hair at some point, but I have things to save up for in general.  If I can get away with a decent amount of hair removal and supplement it with shaving, I suppose it won't be too bad.  Judging from your post things have improved greatly.

That's good to hear!  I have been on spiro for about a month (maybe less) and estrogen since June 13th (I think), so hopefully I will have some look in this area soon.   I don't mind shaving either, but I hate time consuming it can be.  It would be easier if it wasn't as much maintenance.

I wasn't very hairy to start with:  arms like a woman, a few hairs on my chest and something closer to normal pilosity on my legs.  HRT got rid of all of it, can't remember exactly but probably in less than 2 years.  I also have far less underarm hair now and a typically female pubic  hair pattern.
Good luck!

That's good to know!  Unfortunately, I have predominately Italian genes, so I wasn't blessed in this department.  It's not always fun being a Sicilian woman.

I'm sure whether it *happens* varies by person, like everything else with HRT. :) I am, however, convinced that it's possible... because it certainly happened for me. Within about six months almost all of my body hair that wasn't "cis female normal" disappeared, and by a year it was 100% gone (I had this one annoying patch on the lower back that stuck around for the extra six months). Basically, by now I still have to shave my legs, but it's not coming in thicker or worse-looking than other women I know, and I do have some arm hair but it changed from a big horrible forest to small light short hairs like I see on other women.

So if I were you, I'd definitely give it some time, and see what happens.

While I was not extremely hair, I did have hair on the chest and back.  HRT has thin it all out.

I also was not very hairy - blond, Scotch-Irish - and started HRT fairly young. HRT didn't have much effect though it may have prevented more hair development.

Within 2 years of SRS, I was hair-free, except for a luxurious growth on my head and fine female pattern pubic hair. No leg hair, no underarm hair. My female friends have always been envious  ;D

I was a bear, part Irish dad,Scottish mum with dark brown and grey hair.Within 18 months HRT and waxing had got my body hair to female levels and my head hair had grown back in the small bald patch

I'm curious about this too, good to read everyones experiences. I'm just so lucky that I have 0 body hair on arms and torso. My arms aren't zero, but they are see through and are like girl arm hair already! My legs are not overly hairy but from my first experience with HRT years ago I rarely had to shave, and same with underarms.

It's just the damn beard that is killing me XD

I wasn't very hairy before  I had light red hair. I shave my under arms and legs about once a week.
As to Transgender's only achieving breast size  one cup size less than female siblings. They are both a C cup I am a DDD (more than I bargained for) so be careful what you wish for.
I have been on estrogen and progesterone  for 24 years and sprio off and on but not for about 8 years. I have not totally transitioned yet but since  my breasts are very noticeable  36 I it is pretty much impossible not be seen as female. Just went full time. :) Yes I still do yard work!

I too was never that hairy for a guy.

My forearms arms were on the "light side of male" before, but now any arm hair that there is fine and light. Unless you look carefully enough, they almos appear hairless.

I had some chest, abdominal and upper arm hair starting to show up at age 29 and I was 32 when I started HRT, but most of it has gone.  I can count on one had the number of dark hairs I can see on my chest.
