Why do many non-op tell me they don't wanna go for it cos the only reason is it could make them become mad/mentally ill/crazy/insane in the literal sense. Does SRS affect the brain/mind directly to the point to alter some stuffs directly due to SRS? What's the all about, can someone explain please?

Never, ever heard of anything like that. As a postop myself... and from several postop friends I know personally... We're all a pretty sane group.

Is there an article or some printed material you can link to for a point of reference to this statement?

Yeah, Jenn is right about that, it seems like a bogus comment to me. I've not had SRS per se, but an orchiectomy which technically puts me in the same boat as Jenn and others here as in manhood gone forever. So far all I've seen are some really happy normal people who would have gone insane if they had remained as they were before the surgery.

2 non-op friends told me in person + I also watched this documentary on TV and I managed to dig it from Youtube. She's a famous Puerto Rican non-op transsexual.

Reporter 'Y abajo se ha operado tambien?' (And Are you operated down there?)

Lady: 'No, lo tengo que pensar...porque las que se operan de abajo...se vuelven locas.'

(No, I need to think about it...because they say those who operate down there...becomes mad.)

Anyways I just wanna confirm how true is this to know the risks. I know many post ops too that are sane and in good health. Even if it was true, my urge for SRS is so high that I'd go for it even if it makes me become crazy. I prefer die as an insane woman than a sane man.

That is about as authoritative as anything Kim Kardashian might have to say about SRS.  ;D :D

I'll let the ladies that have been there and survived tell you the real truth about SRS and how it made them sane rather than insane!

Any sort of surgery puts extreme amounts of stress on your body, which fluctuate hormones and can temporarily effect the thought process. Also, a lot of people feel kind of like "what the hell have I done?!" after any surgery that isn't for, say, cancer or the like. It can last from about two seconds to when the scabs start to heal and the person calms down. Anyone who is grasping at 'madness' as being an excuse has other issues they need to work out.

Well, if one is non-op because they are satisfied with their male genitalia and then they are pressurised into having SRS, it can lead to some serious mental health issues. In that case, they had SRS for the wrong reasons. I've known it to happen.

If surgery is not for you then it's not.

Nothing more than that since it fixes the body but does little for the mind which might come in with psych issues that were expecting the presence or absence of something to mean more than it does. Those who "need" surgery will confirm what they already know while those who don't "need" surgery will only think they know.

In other words crazy in, crazy out.

There is the possibility of post surgical depression, which happens with any long length surgery, than there are the case's where someone had surgery who didn't /shouldn't have had it, and than have post surgical regret.

IMO the individuals who are telling you this more than likely are them themselves uncertain, and using this answer as a crutch to cover a problem which they have yet to resolve.

I can tell you something about post-surgical depression as I was affected by it, as well as poor judgment to stop taking my anti-depressant a little to fast/too soon, but as far as surgery is concerned it saved my life.
