does this shaving gel prevent razor burn?

ok well im thinking of going out and buying "aveeno positively smooth shave gel", but before I do im wondering have any of yall used it? and if so did it work?

Yes I use it and I would recommend it. It definitely helps with feeling a teeny bit smoother and is good gel but I have found the generic version works just as well. It's pretty cheap too. Only a couple bucks more then regular shaving gel. Hopefully, in a month, I will finally be able to afford laser and will not have to be so so so self-conscious all the time. I can't stand it. I would recommend plucking though if you can't afford laser. I know it is bad but it does stop growth a whole lot longer and totally clears beard shadow.

I have sensative skin. Hands down the best shaving creme is "jack black" from sephora. But it is pretty expensive. The best cheapish one that I used was Nivia for sensative skin. For me, laser was 2400$ for 6 sessions on 3 areas. My neck face and chest. But that is on the expensive side. That is with the top rated medispa in the 6 counties around me. Hope that helps.

I use a rather odd combination. First ill lather up with a super cheap conditioner (so cheap i wouldn't use it on my hair) then ill grab the Fusion Pro Glide Gel and do that over the conditioner. Not only do i get a closer and smoother shave, but my skin also feels softer too.

This is going to sound weird but try putting clear deodorant over the area after you shave it.

I use skintimate shave gel.  Pretty cheap at Sam's club.  Also use a 5 blade razor, Venus, that has goop that exudes from the top of it.  The best thing about the skintimate shave gel is the smell.  The current offering at Sam's is in Raspberry Rain.  I always shave at the end of a long shower, and when you slather this stuff on it fills the shower with a great scent that doesn't last too long.

Angelique, like Janet said, gels generally have more moisturizers and lubricants than creams.  Also, and it doesn't matter which part of the body we are talking about, if the hair and skin are exposed to warm water first, they are less likely to result in a razor burn.

Another option is an electric razor. Since they don't remove any dead skin like a traditional razor does they lead to less ingrown hairs, less razor burn and less razor bumps too. I used to use one on my head when i shaved it because of it being more prone to nicks and cuts

If you want something that actually works, shave like your great grandfather and get a really good quality shaving soap and a badger hair brush with an old-style safety razor.

Ugh.  I bought one of those last year, thinking it would be a closer shave than a standard razor -- it was!  I absolutely can't use it without cutting myself.  I'm sure they work well for some people, but I am not one of them.

OT: Not the EXACT same product, but I've been using and having good luck with Aveeno's Therapeutic Shave Gel.  It's miles ahead of any male-oriented creams for my skin.  Aveeno seems like a solid brand, so I'm sure the product you want is just as good.

It might just be me, but I don't use shaving lotion or cream or gel or any of the routine products.

I shave after sitting in a tub of hot bubble bath for a while (nothing compares to a good bubble bath eh). My bubble bath is generated by using bath soap not bubble bath stuff. I also use nice moisturizing bath soap. And when I shave it's against the grain, it's thorough, it is repeated, it is VERY close. When I am done the razor (I use cheap twin blade disposables and often several baths too) never makes any sound of cutting hair either.

I use this full body and I have no experience of burn.

Might just be me like I said, but, I suspect sitting in water saturated on moisturizers doesn't hurt. I'm fond of St Ives brand soap. I smell real nice and my skin is likely twice as soft as the average cis female I will walk past in a common day.

That shaving gel, in my experience, is okay, but nothing special. The only one I ever found to be especially effective compared to others was Gilette Fusion... but it's not worth it, considering the price. Try hair conditioner for shaving. It's relatively cheap and it does the job surprisingly well.

I pay laser 35 $ per 15 minutes, and a full face can hardly take over 30 minutes. Although now that I'm almost done with laser, it's done within 15 minutes. Depending on various factors including how good a candidate you are, you should be done within 6 to 12 sessions. 6 is pretty early to be completely done, and 12 is kinda long, even though I've heard of things like 15-18 sessions.

So anyway, let's say half your sessions take 15 minutes, and half take 30 minutes... if you go to the clinic I go to, it should amount to about 315 to 630 $. Yes, it can get pretty cheap if you choose your clinic well. The first one I went to and sadly signed for 7 treatments with cost me 2600 $... including a discount of 40 %. Which puts their rate at 124 $ per 15 minutes, after discount. So shop well. (Oh yeah, and in case you're wondering, they're all certified professionals, and they're all using a LightSheer machine.)
