??? ??? So I have been reading up on differing regimens to get a feel for my own and what nit-and almost every single site I visit with some kind of "expert" laying out the regimens almost always says Estradiol Valerate IM is "not reccomended", yet I am just fine administering my own shots and have yet to see any other girls who are on injectibles have any issues with em and almost always say how amazing it is (which, by the way; they are!). And every single site that says its not recomended never says why! Why isnt it reccomended, its not like its conjugated like prematin which has high risk supposedly and reason to match why it is high risk.

So why are all these sites (which also, by the way seem so copy and pastish), saying its " not reccomended"?  Are they just following Dr.Ann Lawrence out of blind reasoning? Who also as far as I can tell never said why herself!! Lol!

When I went to fill my first script it was sooo expensive, like $289 for a month supply where my Spiro is only $30 a month....I called my endo to adk for a different eatrogen due to price and he is strictly adament on me doing this via IM route. So I take it its gotta be pretty safe as he has quite a few simulair patients and has for some 15 years. So what gives with the whole not reccomended thing?

Susan's Place doesn't make any recommendations regarding the prescribing of hormones,  nor do we recommend taking them on the advice of anyone other than a medical professional. I'm not sure what sites you're speaking of, but I don't think we want their content here. Hugs, Devlyn

Nope, not advocating for or against, just trying to gauge why professionals would say its not reccomended yet so many of us use this particulair form of 17 beta...hope you didnt catch/read me wrong.  Just seeing if anyone out there was told "no" to that specific estradiol for certain health reasons beyond the normal risks, so I could gauge it and talk to my endo about it come my sept. check up is all :)

I know what you're referring to, if I we're you I'd ignore anything written by or attributed to Lawrence.

The only rationalization she gives is that it makes it to easy to overdose which is absurd. Or that it makes it easier to take more than the doctor prescribed, which is irrelevant to the medications inherent safety.

Thanks! Def around my thiught process. I liked her while pre natal hypothesis of hormone windows in pregnancy atributed to gender-mapping-but her reccomended regimens seem to me to be absurd seeing as shes a psychiatrist and not an endo and thus has no full comprehensive education on the human endocrine system. No one in their right mind no matter how impatient goes against what their endo says ir prescribes-i couldnt imagine taking more then prescribed it wont make anything go any faster lol.

Injected forms of estrogen have their place but it's more expensive than oral forms so insurance may not cover it (and it is more like $70 a vial, $289 is just a ripoff).

I guess that depends on dose/potency. My endo has me on four times the amount ive seen posted online-its what caused me to research it so hardcore....but lets just say my five shot vial isnt cheap..if i knew a cheaper local pharmacy to take my rx to in michigan i would. The hospitol wanted 310 for a vial, after calling like 8 pharmacies 289 was the cheapest. Most dont carry my potency in vials or id be all for it. I wish i only paid that per month. Meh. Lucky!

I see a range of $58 to $80 via http://www.goodrx.com/delestrogen/price @ CVS. Can have it ordered if not in stock and usually takes a day or 2 for shipping.

Injectible estradiol valerate can be had for as little as $4.00 USD per vial. It usually is the cheapest form of estrogen around.

Prescribing doctor may not have mentioned that EV IM is almost always obtained from a compounding pharmacy. It can cost up to 20 times more to obtain it through a regular retail pharmacy. Ask your doctor which compound pharmacy they usually work with.

Prices for 1 5ml vial of estradiol valerate 20mg/ml (generic) from that site. however, i have 40mg/ml 5 ml vials. :( Is it possible for the pharmacist to just give me two of those vials to equal my one?  IDK how much more I can say without discussing my doseage lol. we're cutting it kinda close.

Such is my pocketbooks dillema.  My purse screams at me every payday...meh.
