I want to start my RLE soon in NY

When I do, I want to change my name and possibly my gender market.  Do you really need SRS to change gender marker in NY? or a good therapist letter will do? 

Law is not my thing and I am not sure if those changes went through.  Its not that I need it now now now, probably within the next few months.  I would feel much better being Rita, if my ID says Rita and Female xD  I mean last thing I wanna do is get carded and then arrested for being a suspicious person xD

NY? Damn, you are lucky lol. I live here too and I think it is perhaps one of the most convenient states to live if you're tg. Name change is easy, and all it takes to change your gender marker at your state DMV is a letter from your therapist recognizing that you are, in fact, truly the gender you say you are.

Oh wow, life is great then xD I will definitely have to talk about that before starting.  I rather change my gender and name at the same times because as said being carded would not be fun xD

Many states have a web page for their DMV!  I would think that some will have that question answered in their FAQ section or they may have a place to contact them by email so you can send in your question and get an email answer.  Best wishes
