Today I ordered a new skirt and blouse to wear to my next doctors appointment. This will be my first time out in public wearing such a feminine outfit other than on halloween. My appointment isn't till early october but I cant wait for it. I might have to wear it when i go out to eat first.  I am a bit nervous about it as I have only worn jeans, shorts, and feminine tee shirts. So this will be outside my comfort zone. What have you done to push your comfort zone?

Don't focus so much on how different the outfit is from what you normally wear. Just think about how beautiful you'll look when you do go out. ;)

To answer your question, so far, going full time pushed my comfort zone. I was deathly afraid of what people would think or the risk for violence. It wasn't anything like that and was just a wonderful day. :)

I have some really cute strappy sandals and bright blue toenails.  I love love love how they look together with a pair of skinny jeans.  I still look 100% male so it looks really gender incongruent when I wear them.  The first time out I just knew everyone was looking.  Honestly, after about an hour I didn't really notice any more. Enjoy your skirt. I am sure you will look like a million bucks :)

Actually, for me, wearing female clothes turned out to BE my comfort zone. I find I'm much more comfortable wearing them than having the world see me as a man.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Just when I started wearing the clothes that I belong in (girls) made me anxious.  Overtime, that is slowly going away.  I think once I have a noticeable chest that ill really feel good about myself.

I would rather push other's comfort zones so I've always dressed and tried to look appropriately. Except for in the "real" job of course. As for looks, whispers or any other thing you may feel anxious about from other people, just give 'em a wink or blow 'em a kiss. ;) But seriously though, just be and act confident.

so far, pushing my comfort zone involves going into a shop and buying a dress.
I pretend I'm buying it for somebody else though so I don't know if it counts.

I agree with the comment about my comfort zone being in a dress or a nice skirt, with a little jewellery and perhaps a touch of makeup.

My big "pushing the boundary" was the first time I went to any sort of gathering as female.  I was just getting past the nervous introductions when a colleague walked in and recognised me.  That was the most terrifying point on my journey, it's all been getting better since!  He's gay by the way, which was why he was at an LGBT gathering, and he certainly knows to keep his mouth shut.

After that, going into a department store as male and booking a bra fitting was a breeze.

My experience was that a smile and a polite request is very well accepted.  The lady at the lingerie counter just treated me as a customer who was likely to spend some money with them and found me a booking.
