I've been visiting this forum for the last 5 years, but never really posted anything, for no particular reason other than being a bit shy. So after a message from an observant member here, I've decided to introduce myself, so here goes.
I'm a 25 year old FtM from the north of England, currently working towards a PhD. I've been transitioning on the NHS for the last 5 and a half years (counting from my first therapist apt, add an extra half year to include first visit to my GP) and only started hormones last week (yes, the NHS can really take that long!!). A year or so of that was due to me stalling, but most of it was down to various mess-ups or just too many patients, not enough staff. However, the wait was worth it, and I can't honestly say starting hormones a few years ago would have made my life any better. I actually think that now I am much more mentally ready and am at a very stable point in my life, so it all worked out well in the end!
So that's a brief intro from me, maybe now I won't lurk quite so much anymore and actually be a bit more vocal!
