I recently started taking Spiro. Take it along with the estrogen. The first couple of days were fine, but now I have pretty bad dizzy spells. I know this is normal, but I am getting full body dizziness. It's hard to explain, but imagine feeling like your whole body is moving and feeling like it's going to fall. Did anybody else get dizziness and did it last the whole time taking it? I have a panic disorder so it's going to be hard to stay on it if this is just part of life on Spiro. Is this drug necessary for transition or could I replace it with something else that doesn't cause dizziness? It's hard to focus on things when you're having dizzy spells multiple times a hour. I want to continue, but it's hard.

Spironolactone was developed originally as a diuretic.  Thus, it sometimes assists with lowering blood pressure.

I suggest you report the side effect to your doctor.  It could be you need a lower dosage to begin.  Oh, and please don't post HRT dosages on the boards.

I have removed the dosages as they are not allowed on this site.

I very strongly suggest you get to a Doctor quite quickly. Spiro is known to lower  blood pressure, if it lowers the blood pressure too much so that you are dizzy you may be in danger.

I would stop taking Spiro immediately and see your Doctor.

Not taking Spiro will not affect your transition but falling and hurting yourself will.

If your blood pressure falls too much you may go into a coma and may not come out of it.

Please get help.

And it makes no difference to how other people respond to the drug, we are all individuals. Ig dizziness persists call an ambulance.

Sorry about that, I will edit the post. But, I don't have a doctor and am self medicating as I can't afford doctor appointments. My blood pressure is actually pretty high. I thought it was that, but I tested it out at 160/100. I have been going to the bathroom more often so maybe I should drink more water.

Get under medical care.

160/100 is a very bad BP to be on with E, you are playing with a loaded gun!! Please you may say you cannot afford a doctors appointments but you are sadly a prime example of a person who needs to be under medical care.

160/100?  your bp is way to high not low. you are playing with loaded dice that arnt in your favor, is your BP always this high?     I get dizzy spells from my spiro, but only when I stand up to fast, or sit for prolonged periods or if im overly exhausted. or bend over to many times in a row.  My bp is 120 over 65.    but yours has me worried. as an ex emt, id think the spiro would help you, but if its got you dizzy im concerned,  DIYS is dangerious but if your gonna stick to it, id recommend lowering your dose and slowly getting used to it.

Your profile say Las Vegas.  I want you to go to one of the two Community Care Free Clinics you have in the city and get your blood pressure checked, and your hypertension treated.  http://freecliniclv.com/

When my blood pressure is too low in cardio-rehab, it is often because I am dehydrated.  So yes, drinking more water might help.

There's cyproterone acetate too, and a few other anti androgens, which I don't know the name of.

Cyprotone acetate (Androcur) is not prescribed in the United States.

Yup, I am with Teela Renee here - I only get dizzy if I am exhausted physically, if I suddenly stand up after sitting for prolonged periods, or sometimes it is just happening randomly. It usually lasts or 2-3 secs and I just get black in my eyes. My average BP is 125-130/75-80.

If you're buying your pills online from gods know where filled with unregulated ingredients, taking a dose that you think is right and not what a doctor thinks is right, then I'm not surprised you're getting bad effects.  Find a doctor and tell him you're self-medicating, and hopefully he will write you a proper prescription or at least tell you the correct dosages for you.
