Does anyone play Magic the Gathering? I played when it first started, and then lost interest for a while. But, when I started college, I became interested again and have been playing for the past 9 years. I don't always have the most recent cards, because I don't spend a lot of money on newer cards, but I still like to play casual.

As a retailer I see magic coming and going in waves. People that get bored with the game will eventually meet up with a new group of people who also used to play. Eventually they will talk about magic and eventually get back into the game.
For anyone who plays magic and are thinking that you might want to get out of the game keep your cards most people do eventually wind up playing again.

As for myself I "get" to deal with people looking at singles for hours on end so magic is not really a game I am interested in. Not to say that it is a bad game but I have negative experiences with the game so I personally don't like it.

Lol... too true. I was a HUGE player between 1997 and 2004 while I was still in school, and constantly had a group of friends to play with. I dropped out of the fandom after that, then got back into it in 2006 when I met a group of friends at my summer job who played. Then I once again dropped out of the fandom, then got back into it AGAIN when I discovered Lackey CCG for the first time and spent winter break playing it. Then I dropped out of the fandom AGAIN, then got back into it for a while when one of my friends at work mentioned it, and now I'm back out of it again.

It always keeps coming back...

I think the video game versions that have been released in the last few years have sucked a bunch of new players into it. I hear the game is the most profitable it's ever been.

I got pulled into by the video games. I loved Innistrad, I didn't care for Ravnica, and I am absolutely bored by the look of this new block. Maybe if the different types of mana represented different mythologies of the world, but the whole Greek Greek Greek thing seems dull. I also can't construct a deck for the life of me. :P
