I've been thinking about this a lot. My first instinct is to claim I have no religion, because I don't hold any supernatural beliefs. But then I started thinking more about the role of religion in daily life. It's a source of comfort, guidance, mythology and narratives, and moral answers. With that as my new basis, I realized I do have a religion... my religion is pop culture. All those roles religion plays in the life of the faithful, pieces of pop culture play for me. Buffy and Angel give me mantras and philosophy, The Dresden Files and Harry Potter give me mythology, Friendship is Magic gave me succor when I was at one of my lowest points. Where others would turn to a saint or a Rabbi, I turn to Whedon, King, or Miyamoto. It isn't filled with supernatural beliefs, but my pop culture religion is otherwise functionally the same.
