For lack of a better place to ask this

So, I invaded the HrT forum once to ask a question about blood pressure because my wife had a spike that sent us to the hospital. I don't really feel comfortable invading again so I'm putting this here, though I don't think I'll find the answer I'm hoping for.

One week ago yesterday my wife started Hrt. She started out with the depo shot as well as estradiol. She was already on metroprolol for blood pressure. She felt like crap the first few days, had symptoms similar to when she had a blood pressure spike earlier this year. We took her BP and it was super high so we went to the E.R. The doctors there told us that her high BP wasn't and immediate concern and just to get with her regular doc, since starting hormones can mess with you basically.

At the hospital they gave her an anti anxiety med, which basically put her into zombie mode. We got with her regular doctor who gave her spiro, and told her to continue on all other meds. At some point in this mess she started vomiting, its to the point now where she can barely keep anything down. She saw her regular doctor again who told her the vomiting was due to high BP and gave her another BP med and told her to only take half of the anti anxiety med, though half still makes her pretty zoned out.

Basically, shes on 5 different meds now, and while her blood pressure doesn't seem to be a current problem, shes out of commission as far as work and any heavy thinking is concerned. She still feels nauseous almost constantly, and she cant keep any food down.

I realize this isn't a place for medical opinions but I'm just looking for someone who had anything similar symptom-wise who might have any insight into whether the depo, spiro, or estrogen might do this to a person.

If anyone has experienced anything even remotely similar, please respond. She has lost almost 10 lbs this week and I'm worried and scared. Her doctors don't seem to think there's anything really wrong with her except high BP... but it has to be more than that.

Either way, thanks for reading this. - Nikki

I've had to change medications due to reaction to them, it happens.  Sometimes you just need to back up and start again.

Don't panic is the best thing I can suggest.
Nameless here for evermore!;  Merely this, and nothing more;
Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"

I think yours is the first one I heard of anyone having a depo shot and estrogen. I could be wrong. Maybe it is a reaction to one or the other of them.

I've always thought it was bad to start treating side effects and such with more meds, essentially chasing your tail. I think she should talk tot he doctor about dropping off everything but the bp med and then starting over after things calm down with a better approach based on what has been happening with the current regimen.

I have nothing personal to offer except that all this sounds scary as heck for both of you... but I did have a friend in college who basically had morning sickness on overdrive as a side effect of the Depo shot. (Saddest part was, of course she just had to wait it out, plus anti-nausea meds. You can't really "stop taking" a 3-month-lasting injection that already took place.)

BTW, I don't personally think it's "invading" if you want to ask a question FOR your wife. Unless you think it's invading for trans people to answer in this forum, which happens fairly often.  :)
