Why is this so hard?
I've known I've needed therapy for a long time, but life's been too busy to find time for it. Now that I've got an opening, and I think I've found a therapist, why is it so difficult to pick up the phone and call her? It's not like this isn't something I want. I realize I don't like calling strangers, but still... *sigh*

the first step on any journey is always the hardest.  Take that step and the rest is easy.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Totally normal.  It took me forever to contact a therapist.  In fact, I had to email and request her not to call until we met in person.  Seriously, I was that crazy about it.

While it is all daunting at first, there is nothing to fear.  Therapy isn't the nightmare situation we all develop in our thoughts.  It's painless and sometimes even fun.  God knows how much I love to ramble nonstop!

You'll be okay.  Now go make that appointment or I will have to yell at you. >:-)  ;)

The secretary chuckled politely when I asked if the office gets a lot of hangups. And felt less guilty. ;)

Maddy, who hung up eight times before saying something intelligible.

Lol.  The first time I called my endo was like this.  The staff was not as amused.

Jen

Well done.

I called a new therapist last week and left a message and had the dreaded wait!
She got back to me about 2 hours later.
Talk about being nervous.

2 sessions down an the third will be all about my GD.
She understands so it could not have gone any better.
I am really looking forward to the next session now.

Yes I was scared witless mentioning it but so happy now.

All the best an don't worry.

Jen
So long and thanks for all the fish

The therapist got back to me, and now I have an appointment for tomorrow evening. I'm admittedly a little nervous. Granted, I have no idea if that's from this, or because school has just started back up (I'm not ready to go back). I just hope I can develop a good rapport with her. I've had therapy before, so I know just how important that is. I worry too much. I'll find out tomorrow.

I don't really know. It was just something I stumbled across on an image board I frequent. I thought it was incredibly clever, so I decided to use it. I love her expression. It's like it just dawned on her how her hair was arranged.

I did it! I had my first session today, and it went very well. I got along well with my therapist, and she seemed to be impressed that I had done as much as I had to familiarize myself with transgender issues, and had as focused of questions as I did. From what it looks like, this should work, which is a big relief. Also, she mentioned that I have a rather feminine build, so should I need to transition (that's what I'm there to determine), I have that going for me as well.

I feel a lot better now. ^__^
