The new documentary "Why We Sing" explores the origins of LGBT choruses from the famous -- the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, which rose up largely in response to AIDS and political upheaval in the city, including the assassination of trailblazing gay leader Harvey Milk to the newly formed Transcendence Gospel Choir, the world's first all-transgender chorus -- and how LGBT voices raised in song validate and empower audiences and singers alike, as well as just plain make people happy.
