Thank you for writing and sharing a thoughtful and inspiring piece Glitterfly.
Yes we are amazing and we reach out to one another with the best hands and tools available for love and support.
Although virtual in one sense this is still a real and critical connection and brings us into community and family.
I have learned from so many people here and this knowledge strengthens my resolve and encourages my activism.
Sharing our fears and successes allows us to understand a broader perspective and to consider alternative ideas.
We help each other through while the music and dance we create together is the magic.

I posted some of this before, but I was at a seminar by Prof Gary Warne who set up the endocrinology unit at Royal Melbourne Hospital to care for trans*children.

He is now retired but gave a seminar to the Endocrinology Unit at the WCH.

One of his opening statements was how proud and inspired he had been with working with trans*people, 'they are among the bravest most inspiring people I have ever met, to face what they face and fight through the legal and medical system to be themselves and the sheer joy of when they reach their goal can only inspire us to face our problems as courageously as they face theirs' (not verbatim). I was one of two trans*woman in the audience and was introduced to him after the talk and we had a coffee together at his request.

A charming, sincere and delightful man who treated me with absolute respect and was very interested in how I had overcome the difficulties in my medical career.

Just a comment!

Thoughts and feelings shared virtually are no less real than face to face :) Sometimes it's even easier to be open and honest when not face to face ^^

I agree and find it ironic when someone's feelings are hurt here and they say "you made me feel...."   Gee, I started out trying to make you happy.
Oh I do wish I could make people feel something but you and I can be the catalyst yes, while those feelings are generated between the ears a thousand miles away.
An awkward way of suggesting we own our feelings.
And thanks again for inspiring a little amazing pride. ;D

Doctorwho?

Ok - I read this post this morning and I registered solely to be able to reply and say thanks in person.

I'm not gender dysphoric myself but I am in the process of qualifying as a doctor and this spoke to my deepest doubts and fears rather well.

So thank you Glitterfly. That was just what I needed to read this morning on the first day of my new term at med school.

(ps - I will post a short introduction with more explanation for anyone interested.)
