I am fairly new in my transition.  I've always dressed like a man, had hair like a man, and so on but now that I am binding and trying to come out more as a man, is going into the males washroom a no no untill surgery or does it just matter how it makes me feel, apart from the looks i get from other men?  I've done both, men and women's washrooms, usually in the womens they get afriad because they think i am a man and in the mens well you must know, they say nothing but give looks.  So any comments would be great. much love yall. i smile because i really don't know what the heck is going on! >:-)

I would start using the men's - keep your head down, don't look at anyone else - head for a stall and be confident. As long as it feels safe that is.

There's been a few threads about this that address the issue better than I in the FTM forum, like this one:

if the women think you are a man, please be considerate enough to not scare them by entering the ladies' room. like, be a gentleman and use the right restroom for one.

I don't think men have any issues with who enters their bathroom.  You may get some strange looks if someone can tell, but they probably won't say anything.  Women tend to have more invested in maintaining women only spaces and as such I'm way more worried about what I am going to do if and when I start trying to present as a female.

Just don't laugh I always find it funny when I use a stall (mtf) so I have been in bad situations. As they said just ont look at anyone for no reason and use a stall like you own it :D then comment on the size of the guys penis next to you!!!(dont do this you may be attacked)
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

HAHAHA... Yea that would probably end badly.. Speaking as a former male. and yes always keep your eyes to yourself..

I'm curious, I always try to look, its not easy to do without looking obvious.  Probably why I don't use urinals a whole lot.
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

Likely 'safer' in the men's room. Why? well the average male would rather die than have someone think he was afraid of your presence there.

Whereas in the ladies room, well of course the media does a nice job of trying to portray us MTF types as something of a certain danger eh. I mean, I suppose women are just so defenseless I guess in the eyes of the media.

And considering how homophobic too much of male society is, the thing is it is so much a rule of never using the urinal next to a guy if you can use one a spot removed from the next dude. And they are so busy NOT looking, that odds are they will have trouble knowing if you are or are not. So best advice is to just do nothing to invite attention, and they likely will be doing their best to not look like a gay person on the hunt.

Men for instance do their best to say as little as possible in the rest room. So say nothing, look nowhere and be in and out in as short a time, and you will likely seem like one of them in behaviour at least.
Well being TG is no treat, but becoming separated has sure caused me more trouble that being TG ever will be. So if I post, consider it me trying to distract myself from being lonely, not my needing to discuss being TG. I don't want to be separated a lot more than not wanting to be male looking.

It's not all that uncommon to see women using the Men's room at bars and nightclubs, usually because the line is longer. Drunk men will sometimes say something, but others often will step in to protect them and guard the stall.

well i thank you all for the replies, i think i have a better understanding of the bathroom situation and i  can probably assure you that i wont be frightning any more females in the washroom, i will, and i quote "keep my head down and get out as quick as possible" in the mens room.  seems like a viable option, and i can totally go with it.  so thank you. much love.
