Hi everyone. My name is Alice and I am from Saint Petersburg, Russia. This forum seemed to be like a lot of treasure for me due to its originality as a transgender source. I hope it is indeed. :) Well. Since I'm a newcomer here for you all, I'd like to describe my person first and then commence talking and mixing)) I'm 23 years-old transgender, living in Russia and interested in variety of transtion methods and their effectivness. Chasing this goal I'm building up my knowledge in this area. Maybe that's why I'm here as well. So. If you don't mind I will ask some questions.
First: do you see any progress taking antiandrogens? As for me I don't take any of them. Just estrogens alone. (You see I don't need any information about dosages even if it was allowed here to talk about exact amounts of medications. Not actually, my aim concerns other aspects.)
Secondly: do you girls ( or your doctors there) consider taking ethynil estradiol taking start from first two months of transition? It's rather interesting deal here in Russia and it'd be useful to find out personally from real people how it is going there where you live about etnynil estradiol.
Finally: has anybody experienced comparing transdermal and oral medications to know which works better? There are some different researches concerning this theme, especially as it says about different ages. Thank you.  ;)

They say patches are safer than taking pills. Less chance of DVT and liver problems. I am not aware of any difference in effect other than this.

Also the #1 London private doctor (far as I am aware) for TG type stuff does not prescribe anti-androgens, just estrogen patches. I expect he has good reasons for this.

Alice, let me say that ethinyl estradiol is an old version of the hormones (formulated in 1938, and manufactured beginning 1943).  It has been associated with a higher incidence of deep vein thrombosis - a potentially life-threatening complication.

For that reason, I did not use it; instead I was prescribed 17-beta estradiol in patch form.

Я рад встретиться с вами. Добро пожаловать Susans Place.

Welcome Alice. I am prescribed Spironolactone and Estradiol. The spiro is about 1/2 the standard dose and the E is about 1/2 the maximum dose, both are oral. My testosterone was measure last week and is very very low.

I wish you well in your transition and hope you are safe.

First I want to thank you all for your answers. Jamie D your greeting in Russian is fine, thank you in particular.))
Cynthia thank you for your piece of advice and wishing me luck in transition ;)
Seras I got you. Actually the situation concerning using antiandrogens is not so easy here in Russia. I read some researches worldwide and found endos don't have common point of view on it. For example my doctor said it was my mistake that I even tried to use antiandrogens. She didn't prescribe me any of them. Had said it blocks working of estrogen and gave one example with a car and gasoline. She said following: "Let's take a car and its typical form and brend of gasoline it uses. If we substitute on type of gasoline with another then our car will not go so far. Instead of it the car will stop and break down. The same case we have got with our organism. Testosterone controls thousands of processes in our body and if we switch its work off or decrease very quickly its amount then we have a risk to block our faminization at all for long period of time, leading ourselves to andropause or male climax. It's very dangerous that's why as an endocrinologist I don't recommend any antiandrogens before first half a year of therapy". Meanwhile your doctors in some countries prescribe it sometimes. Really there are reasons for not taking it whereas any other opposite reasons for taking do exist.
Jamie D it's quite complicated topic dealing with ethynil estradiol. I fully agree that it can lead to vein thrombosis. But. You all girls know about such fact that male body has less estrogen receptors than female ones. Many russian endos prescribe ethynil estradiol for this reason too. It's more effective when is taken after some first months of therapy. It's quite common in Russia to use ethynil estradiol to complete feminization as 17-beta estradiol has done its work and can't give more changes than ethynil estradiol could. So many different practices in hormonal administration through all the world.
As for patches and gels. I do appreciate their influence but some endo here think patches have less connection with albumin and globulin, and consequently have less effectiveness on body feminization. But as for my opinion, gel forms are good enough and work in my case as well as pills I was prescribed.
I wonder how many approaches endo have in their hormonal treatment and there are so many different practices in hormonal administration through all the world.

you have to take anti-androgen estrogen alone not enough unless you remove your tasticals

and yes i agree that ethinlyestradiol more stronger than the other form of estradiol but also more dangerous  :-\

i know friends of mine take only ethinlyestradiol  without anti-androgen they have feminine look but also manly
i dont advice that you going with this first dangerous + not effective and this is the endo words not mine
talk with your doctor and see

btw i'm half russian my grand grand mother from russia i dont speak russian but i love russian songs and lsn to a lot of russian bands and singers like винтаж , НЮША ,БЬЯНКА , SEREBRO , Жанна Фриске , МакSим etc

LGBT community have no rights here. Don't believe anyone who says gay or trans people are in safety here. Never were and hardly will be. So many insane violent actions directed to LGBT. The government supports such situation and Putin says "oh what are you talking about? there is no discrimination of gay people! there is no need to protect them from anybody". Nonsense and huge lie!
I asked my endo last November. She replied ethynil estradiol will be useful after some period of time of my transition. Not now.
Anti-androgens stop feminization in first half year of HRT due to their activity and only disturb needful changes so that further process can be broken down at all. That's what she also said about Androcur. When I asked her about Spiro she only said there's no need for using it 'cause in small dosages it doesn't influence, in great ones will hurt my health. Ethynil estradiol helps after 17-beta will be done with my ability to transition but has its own risk and side effects. This is what I asked about.
I realize that your doctors have other opinions but I think anti-androgens interfere with feminization. I and hundreds of people let estrogen alone decrease testosterone levels. I was interested how your endos deal with it and see some of them practice the same way my endo does. It encourages.))
