hi , just a quick couple of questions . How do you begin the process of transitioning in the UK and how much does it cost privately .
Many thanks Melanie

To go down the NHS route you go to your GP. What happens after that depends a great deal on where you are.

Sorry but I have no idea about the cost of doing things privately as "more than I can afford" stopped me researching it.

Well that was fun! What's next?

The very best of luck then and congratulations on taking that step. I know it was one of the Very Scarey Things (tm) to do as I was working up the courage.

Rosie.

Not sure about the rest of the UK, but I went to my GP at the beginning of June and have just got on the waiting list at Leeds GIC, number 86 in the queue with an estimated date of September 2014 for my first appointment with them.

The few clinics I've looked at to go private seem to be £240-£300 for an initial consultation, £120-£150 per monthly session after that.  Not sure what the other charges are like (blood tests, letters to GP's and what not).  Depending on the outcome of monthly appointments you can get a recommendation to your GP for hormones within 3-6 sessions, you're GP would handle the writing of prescriptions

I'm paying £110 a session of laser on my face, getting some good results after 4 sessions, probably need 4-6 more to clear my face to the point where I'll only need yearly top ups (you can get deals for buying sessions in bulk most places)
