I just got done talking with my dad, he said that I may be denied hormone therapy if I get put on medication for anxiety, I want to believe he's making it up to freak me out, but I'm really sure he isn't.  :icon_sad:

If they denied hormones for this, a lot of trans people would never get on hormones.

He is wrong. A doctor may want to make sure you are stable before prescribing it, but you can certainly take psychiatric medication and be on hormones.

Well its just his lack of information and this also can help fuel the anxiety.
Do not listen to anyone other then your doctor, they are the ones who know you and what is best.

Before i went on HRT i was on major strong anti-depressents and anxiety meds. Once i started hrt, went full time and started my RLT i ended up stopping everything other then HRT. Its funny how once you get over your minds fears how much the others melt away.

Good luck and as i said you are you, no one know your other then you. Be honest and trust in your doctors and you will be ok.

When I started HRT I was on multiple psychotropics and benzodiazepines for anxiety and depression.  I was also in a psychiatric outpatient program.  None of that hindered my access to hormones
