Rapid City transgender case settled; what's next for Cori McCreery?
Alexandra Montgomery, September 20th

Cori sought legal council after she says she was fired from Don's Valley Market in 2011 for transitioning from male to female. "Because he was running a family-oriented business, he was going to have to release me because he did not want the controversy of my transition to affect business," said Cori.

Her case was settled for $50,000 Monday.

Don Turner, supermarket owner, says he did not fire Cori because she's transgender, and he says he settled because he could not afford to go to court.

Cori says she hopes her case helps others like her. "That it can show them that there is hope, that the future is bright, that they should not give up, and I hope that it puts it out on a national scale," said Cori.
