Cindy

Today is Autumn Moon Day in China, my student told me it is a day that families get together and look forward to strength in the winter.

She cooked Moon Cakes for me and my staff.

I have two.

I was asked to eat one looking at the full moon.

I asked her  why she give me the second.

She said "I know you look after woman like you around the world. Break it for them so they can be family as well."

I'm pretty damn sure she included the guys as well

The Moon is now full, I shall do as she asked.

Happy Moon Day my sisters and brothers.

And thank you Jing Jing for being wonderful.

May your baby be as beautiful as you in spirit and heart.

*fighting tears*

Thank you.  That is so beautiful.

Bless you for sharing your Moon Cake with the world.  I have read many of your posts and appreciate your kind spirit and the support you offer so freely.  You give me (and presumably many, many others) Hope.

It is called 'Chuseok' here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuseok

I went to a nearby beach to take a moon photo with my little daughter, but I failed to take a nice one.

You can see my daughter (lower left).

The following is what I took last year on the same lunar day.

I am trying hard not to eat too much, as every dish of food has too much calorie.

Here in the U.S. it is often called the Harvest Moon, but what is most compelling to me is to know that people all over the world are able to look to the sky and see such a beautiful sight

We are all looking up in the sky and seeing the same moon, it is kinda like we are all holding hands in friendship

Sorry, getting a bit philosophically emotional

Thanks for mentioning it thus causing me to take a step back and appreciate just looking at the moon... It's been a while since I've done that.

Yes. When the first Harvest Moon day came around after I settled in the U.S., it was marvelous to my eyes that the moon was exactly the same one in my country. Culture and people were so much different at that time, but the moon was the same, which I realized at that time.

A mediocre photo of the moon I took at a nearby beach on Sep. 19, 2013.
