I know, you're probably thinking that's a given. But I took a brief leave of absence from this site for a week and in that week I found out that there are a lot of trans people I bump into on the internet who have no idea about this place.

It's quite surprising really. When I first started coming to terms with dysphoria the first thing I did was think it would be logical to find a support group, and there will be one on the internet. So quick google search and boom, susans. Job done.

How do people not know about this place? Maybe it needs more promoting. Get on twitter or something! But then, the way some things are maybe that isn't such a good idea after all.

Food for thought maybe.
Farewell to my friends, farewell to the life I knew. I burn what once was, and in the ashes I am born anew.

The site is pretty much the way Susan designed it way back when.  That is part of the reason Susan has begun to fund-raise, so that we can get a professional and up-to-date webdesign and functionality.

I completely agree with you that there is always room for improvement if we want to be the place for the transgender community to find support, answers, and camaraderie.

Let's look at the stats.  There are approximately 7.1 billion people on the planet.  If 0.3% are self-identified trans (according to the Williams Institute Study of 2011), then there should be over 21 million trans person worldwide.  If you look at just the United States, there should be about 900,000 trans persons.

But this site has only had about 30,000 registered members since we started keep track (and that is a worldwide registration).

So yeah, we have work to do.
