You'll be fine. I'm nearly 30 and hope to start HRT relatively soon. "Patience is a virtue" is the general theme I see around here regarding HRT.

I started at 21 and got great results.... and i do smoke
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

I'm 24 and have been on spiro and Estradiol for 2 months with an additional month or so of low dose estradiol alone which I really don't count.

The initial low dose of E did little for me besides change my sense of smell and play with my emotions.   The real changes have started since I started Spiro and have increased my estradiol.  I still have a long way to go and don't know where it will take me, but I have been happy so far, despite my impatience and desire for a lot more results.

At 25, you aren't at a bad age to start.  Keep in mind, however, that hormones are very much a waiting game and can be unpredictable.  It's impossible to know how much of an impact it will have on you, but your age is in the optimal range.  Good luck!

I'll be 25 in a month, too.. not on HRT yet, but hoping to be soon :) Good luck with your journey!

Jeeez You all make me feel old.My first visit to the endo is 3 months before I turn sixty four --looks better written out.Thing is I am a teenager at heart. :)  Pat

Good luck to you too Anastasia :D and thanks everyone for your positive comments :)

Hell I am old but, like Pat, feel like a teenager after starting HRT.

One thing I can assure you is waiting decades for the right time and that illusive sense of certainty didn't make it any easier.
Open, out and evolving queer trans person forever with HRT support since March 13, 2013

i just turned 23 this last july and i know this feeling, day to day i think about how i need to start transitioning but am unable due to my contract for the navy for another year and a half but. i know that the day will come when im free to start living the way i want to and know i should be. as should everyone struggeling with beginning the journey, i think everyone has the strong desire to pass and transition well but after everything you could possibly do to achieve what you want, most end up happy and with a sense of pride in them selves which overshadows the thoughts of what other people think. as long as you can look in the mirror at the end of the day and love yourself for what and who you are, age turns into only a number and youre filled with a sense of wholeness and peace with yourself

Indeed! good times to be a young transperson it seems. When I transitioned I was one of very few in the support group that was my age. Most were older. Seems that really now that its getting more open, many decide to go for it younger.

Hello I am a 25 year old MTF. I finally just came out to my parents about me being transgender and started seeing a therapist who said i was ready to take hormone therapy when i feel ready for it but im worried that the hormones wont take as well as if i was younger and was wondering if anybody could tell me if hormones would still help me? Any help at all would be great thanks :)

I started late into 23~

and not that Im 100% female all the time.. hormones have done a lot so far(as in, people are oft confused to my gender while looking at me). And my last blood work, about half a month ago showed me about half of where my  Estrogen should be  and way, way higher than my testosterone should be.

So ya! It still can.

Leah, the earlier in life the better. You will do just fine.

Do not delay as I did in my life, now mid 50's & it so frustrating to try & improve my body.

Take care of your body as you change & be patient.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

How long have you been on HRT if I may ask? Because obviously these things take time right...
Farewell to my friends, farewell to the life I knew. I burn what once was, and in the ashes I am born anew.

I'm 30 and probably will start in about year as my wife just found out we're pregnant with kiddo number three and we don't want to overlap hormone induced irrationality.  I would love to get started to see if this is truly my path, but being emotionally stable for my wife is far more important to me.

Sadly, it's very individual. My best friend for example is 21 years old and got very feminime face and B cup in less than 1 year. I am 25 and maybe have OK face but still I don't even have any proper breast development after almost 1 year.

Comparable to most peoples doses? about 4 months. I've had friends that told me what their doctors started them at~ And I was way way lower because my doctors was rather cautious.

Total, including the low doses, 9 months of AAs and maybe 8 months E. I switched from Patches to pills after about 4-5months which was a pretty big difference in terms of effectiveness for me.

It does take time! moreso in my case apparently

4 months isn't that long though really, especially since you were on patches, which I hear are pretty useless. But sounds like they're doing the job! You'll get there!

Yeah

but still! Its rather frustrating at times because I thought I'd be there by now, you know? I was hoping Id be where Im at now 5 months ago, instead of now.. But at the same time, Im really really happy with how Im doing now!
