So I've recently been given an offer at a defense contractor. But before I can start work, I have to apply for an interim security clearance with an SF-86. Can anyone give me tips on applying for this as a trans woman?

Legally, all my documentation says "Female", even my original (not amended) birth certificate. I changed my name a year ago, and every institution I've dealt with since then does business with me exclusively under my current name. I have no current delinquent debt, but I do have a couple written-off accounts from my old name. Other than those two issues, I do still see a therapist.

Searches mention plenty of people renewing clearances they already have, but my understanding is that they're a bit more "seat of the pants" about declining the initial interim security clearances.
