We shared a bottle of wine on Sunday night and had some laughs. I wasn't really planning on telling her, although I was considering it. But there was an opening in the conversation where it was possible to lean that way. And I told her. And she was very sympathetic and understanding about it. Although she now thinks that I'm just a "modern man" which is emotional, sensitive, feminine etc. So I don't think she'll come to terms with it for a while, but she's very open about it. Very open minded individual, I love her.

So yeah, I don't really care what my Dad, Step Dad or my sister think about it. It was only my mums opinion that concerned me, so it was nice to finally get it all out of the way! :)

I am really happy for you. That must be a big step for you and a weight off your shoulders.
You are so fortunate that she is supportive and understanding........of course you love her.
Love,
Ciara
I don't have a gender issue.
I love being a girl.

Congrats.  I'm glad it went well.  As for her confusion about gender issues, give her some time.  Believe me, there are worse reactions around.

Thanks everybody! I've read a lot of stories on here, so I consider myself very fortunate that I have such an understanding parent.

I bet her reaction (or lack of it) really felt good. Congrats! You're off and running now! :)

way to go dreams,
I had a moment this sunday also to tell my wife that I am going through with my transition, it must be something in the air, lol
she was very understanding however very concerned about the fact that she is not willing to have a sexual relation with another women, but felt we could continue to have our relationship as room mates. so for me the outcome was a bit better than expected as well.
She felt that I would need a good deal of support as I start making more permanent / physical changes I sent her some support contacts to help her understand what I am going through and how for her to cope with those changes and or seperate.
I hope she will see her way to stay together even as friends.
one day, one step, with grace it will be forward today

me too, and thank you. it will be very nice for us to our families support and or at least understand who we are.
i was not expecting this outcome, I really had the motor packed and ready. Now i must get her the support she will need too, i sinced by her reaction that she is in state of shock or overload
