Hi, this is my first post here & I'm going to publicly introduce myself as Dusty.  My story is a bit too long for one post, but I will try to hit on all of the important aspects - I am a post-op MTF with a history of an intersex condition.  That, in and of itself is its own story and is the main reason I am posting here - hoping to connect with others in a similar situation, be able to offer support regarding things I've learned & get support from others who have insight, & learn from others who are here.  In addition to identifying as transgender, I also identify with goth culture & as a Christian (but not in the judgy sense!).  I live on the East Coast, have lived most of my life in "underground" scenes (punk, gothic, lgbt, etc.) and graduated from seminary in 2012.  I have also suffered from chronic Bipolar / Affective Psychosis since 1998, which has just made everything a lot more complicated (& interesting).  I had my surgery with Dr. McGinn in 2009 and I'm coming here primarily for the forum for post-operative life.

Life lessons learned:  the importance of radical acceptance in regards to how life goes, try to be laid back & pick my battles carefully, accept others for who they are / where they are in life, while also being myself.  (Subject to change when manic / depressed / psychotic).
But somehow, whenever I get to drink my mint herbal teas & indulge in chocolate, everything is okay.  And chocolate & good music & that makes the world special to me.

Lets see...anything else people should know:  I'm weird, & reserved.

Hi Dusty, welcome to Susan's Place! You said chocolate, twice! You're gonna do just fine around here. When the Aussies show up, just tell them you don't have any chocolate, and I'll be back later and we can eat up all the chocolate. See you around the site, hugs, Devlyn

Welcome Dusty from the soon to be great white north, lol.

I am not a Dr McGinn girl per say but she was on the team that did my BA in 2005. I just had my GRS done 6 months ago with Dr Brassard. Glad to see others who have years of knowledge here to share in there story.

Hi Dusty.  And welcome from SoCal.

I am really glad you joined.  We have a wonderful community of post-op girls.  And we have an IS board too.

Make yourself at home!

BTW, I love herbal teas, but I make a mean Chai tea too.

Thanks to everyone for reading and for the warm wishes - the truth is, I certainly do need to have some kind of community (and not feel so isolated).  So, I want to say right up front that I appreciate it.  From reading around, I do get the sensation that there are a lot of good people so I am feeling good about that.

As for the chocolate, yes it is a serious issue - which is both a good thing & a bad thing, since I really do need to stop eating less of it.  I feel like I must have really low serotonin since I am snacking on it almost constantly throughout the day.  In regards to the chocolate, I blame the hormones!  It is true, I have always had a sweet tooth, but I used to be able to keep it contained when need be.  Ever since changing my hormones, I feel as though it has morphed from an excessive want to an excessive need.  Oh well, it is probably just me & my stupid head's fault...As for herbal tea, it is simply the best.  I am partial to mint medley, but can appreciate most of them - they soothe my stomach, they calm my anxiety, help me wake up in the morning and wind down at night.  One bad habit is the chocolate, but one good thing I did was to switch out drinking sugary caffeinated sodas for teas (see, I'm not always bad!).

Ok, so I do have a couple of questions, which I think I will go ahead and ask here (and then hopefully someone will direct me in the right direction).
1. I have a lot of issues / questions / etc. which specifically deal with hormonal issues.  Is there a specific place where it is best to discuss hormone related issues & if so, where is it(?) and, is it okay if I go there & ask my questions?
2. Likewise, I have a lot issues/questions which deal with complications (along with the story of exactly how they came about).  Where is the best context for these issues?
3. How many posts do I need to have in order to create a blog?  The reason I would like a blog here at some point is for the following reason:  I have a unique story which has brought me to the specifics of where I am at now & while I don't presume that everyone wants to hear all about the crappy details, some of the questions / replies that I have arise directly from some specific things which happened & at times, it may help to clarify where I am coming from.  That being said, I only would want to go through it once, not on multiple posts... (Ok, I'm probably just being tangential, so I'll shut up).

Thanks again for the warm welcomes.

"since I really do need to stop eating less of it."  Couldn't agree more!

Your questions:

1. The HRT forum

2. Anywhere.

3. Last I knew, the site wasn't issuing new blogs.

Hugs, Devlyn
