What I keep forgetting to say is

Cindy

I was with my wife earlier and we were getting a new wheelchair for her. As ever it cost a lot more than we were lead to expect, a bit like buying a car, "Oh you want seats, engine and steering wheel - they are all extras."

Well the cushioned seat, leg supports, brakes and safety belt were all extras!

At the end of it she apologised for me buying it and I was taken aback. Why should you apologise? Well you could have used that money for your surgery, was her reply.

I cried - again - damn hormones

I told her it didn't matter a damn and that she was far more important than any surgery for me.

So we both cried. Must be Hay fever.

She asked me how I kept going.

I told her the truth that I have lots of friends at Susan's who keep me going when I feel bad.

What I keep forgetting to say is: Thank You

You keep me going.

Thank You - All of you are very special lovely people.

Now we can all have a cry

Thank you, Cindy. I know you've helped me when I needed it, and that you help others here, too. You're a sweetheart, you and your wife are very lucky to have each other!

*hugs*

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Damn, now I'm suffering from 'hay fever'..

This story demonstrates the Cindy I know and love, someone who has been there for me when I needed her, a friend.

I'm glad we help. But I also think it's your character that keeps you going. And from what I've seen you have a lot of it.

I don't cry much, even with completely female endocrines, but somehow the computer monitor is becoming kind of blury.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Cindy... all is said. You're a special person. You're supportive to so many of us, we all owe you a big thank you.

But one thing you wrote is even more special:

You're amazing Cindy. That post in itself is a perfect example of that. You always put others first. Thank you.

Now I need some Kleenex!
