Kia Ora,

I've just watched this...There are some really nice open minded people about-not sure which US city this was filmed in...

It was filmed in Wayne, New Jersey, a few miles outside New York City (and not far from where I was raised).

The area around New York tends to be a very tolerant area, owing to the metropolitan diversity of the population.

I love that show - I watch it whenever it's on. They're not afraid to wade into controversy, unlike a lot of the other blandness on American network TV.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Kia Ora Suzi,

Tis said that NY city as a whole is quite tolerant, however I watch another WWYD about gays being abused in a restaurant in a town in Texas, out of around 50 people in the restaurant half stood up for the gay couple, the show went on to say that in a similar show/setting in NY, only 13 people out of a couple of hundred stepped in on the side of the gay couple...

It does make one wonder how one would react if in a similar situation...I've never been in such a position, due to living in a diverse community where LGBTQI (well mainly LGB) are out in large numbers, shop owners restaurant owners, teachers, doctors, counsellors(the island is full of counsellors of one kind or other)...That's not to say there are no homo/trans phobic islanders, but they are few and far between...

BTW thanks for letting me know which city it was filmed in...

Well,it  didn't take much research - they say it pretty early on in the video.

I did see the one in the restaurant in Texas, and I was pretty impressed with it. And I do have to say that in my own state, which is supposedly one of the most tolerant in the nation, our legislature voted down a transgender rights earlier this year and it took two tries a year apart to get a gay marriage bill through.

Kia Ora Suzi,

I must admit I didn't take much notice of where it was in the US when watching the video...However the Texas one was different, they made a point of pointed out the difference, due to how conservative Texas is meant to be...

It takes a brave person to go against the grain of the local community....
