Boys do the cutest things sometimes...

I had an interesting experience this weekend, and figured that I'm sure similar things have happened to other girls on this forum, so here's the thread!

What charming, completely unnecessary but hopelessly gallant things have men or boys done for you while you are presenting as female?

Here's mine:  Last night my girlfriend and I spent the day decorating for Halloween with her son, her daughter, and her son's girlfriend along with my daughter (who I am now out to).  I was presenting as female in this family situation all weekend and enjoying it immensely.

We spent a couple of hours digging "graves" and mounting styrofoam headstones, and my girlfriend's son asked me if I had some old lumber in the back so he could make a partially buried "coffin".  I told him I would look, so we went back and I found an old wooden box I had built years ago mouldering in the wood pile.  I dug it out, being careful not to mess up my skirt (I was overdressed, but my long, thick jersey skirt was *perfect* for a cool day, and I was not about to miss a chance to wear it! ;)

To set this up, let me remind everyone I'm nearly 40, 6'4" tall and about 180 pounds, very little fat.  I'm a big girl.  My girlfriend's son is, well, 21, about 5'8", maybe 130 pounds soaking wet in gym clothes.

After producing the box, I set it on the ground and showed it to him, and he said he thought it was perfect.  I picked it up (all twenty pounds of it) with the fingertips of my left hand and prepared to take it up to the front when he said "That looks heavy, let me get that for you", whereupon he took the box in both hands and carried it through the house to the courtyard.

It was all I could do not to laugh, but at the same time his unexpected gallantry made me all misty-eyed.  I love that kid.  :)

Oh, they love picking up the heavy stuff :). I remember what my my best male friend did... It was only one hour after I came out to him and he decided to have a short walk with me, so we went back to my office to pick up my bike (with mounted childseat and basket it weights about 50 pounds - it is female dutchbike, a relic from last millenia and I have no idea why they made so heavy bikes for girls... And I really mean its heavy - I had a male MTB before, and I swear it was lighter than my Gazelle). So, I picked the bike up and started to carry it downstairs from the fifth floor. My friend watched it for a while and told me - Hey, it is not a female thing to do, let me carry it for You. As he had just recovered from two weeks of quite a serious illness and had lost about 10 pounds meanwhile) and I watched him to struggle for one floor and then firmly told him: "Nope, let the girl do the heavy duty!" and took the bike away from him - he did not resist very much anyway :). But the attempt felt nice, nevertheless :).

Well done both of them.  They are treating you as women even when it doesn't make much sense.

That is really cute, both of your stories. :) I have to admit, lol, I am the little weak boy who tries to help when...well, I probably can't do it that well. :P When I was presenting female I absolutely refused to ever have any male person do anything for me, probably because of my hidden male pride. I was stronger as a girl though, before I got sick. -_-

*heh*  All men started out as weak little boys.  I salute you for your gallantry, sir!  :)

I was moving out of my mobile home and my brother and my old roommate were getting heavy stuff out (like the fridge and stackable washer / dryer). They moved the steps out so they wouldn't break them, and I had to get down (it's a 3 foot drop from the door to the ground outside). When I was trying to get down, my brother offered to help me by having me wrap my arm around his neck and him hold my waist and he helped me down.

My younger brother sort of did the same thing for me at a football game. When everybody was clearing out, we had to step over a row of seats to get out. He helped me over the row.

Of course I've had the usual, with random strangers helping me with heavy stuff (or offering at times... I'm not completely helpless!). That's not really unheard of for me (I'm 5'3" and fairly normal as far as mass for a female). I've even had guys help me with heavy stuff when I was presenting as a guy before.

One night I was bar hopping with a girl friend of mine. She brought along a bunch of guy friends (she's in the Navy). Guys were asking me what I wanted to drink all night long. I got pretty hammered that night! Had a lot of fun, too  :icon_drunk: ... I don't think they had a clue that I'm trans though, so IDK if that counts.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

heh - the flip side to that is that I've always been amused by women who expect me to do the heavy lifting... I'm seriously not any stronger than most of them! Sure, I might currently be presenting as male but I'm not a haulage service.  ::)

Yeah, I get pretty dysphoric when someone asks me to open a jar for her... The funny thing is that recently those damn lids are just slipping in my hands (I might still be able to twist, but I cant get a good grip on them anymore). So I tend to approach this with humour - like, look, even I can't open it, so lets better go and get some tools :).

You're all right about the guys wanting to lift heavy things! I still get it because I present male for the majority of life still, so I get it. Its a sort of RAWR MACHO feeling, combined with a sheepish "are you impressed?"

Anywho, my wife and I were out, and I was presenting female. We had our son in his stroller, and he was about 4 months old. Him in the stroller weighed about 20lbs. We were about to go up the stairs at a terminal, and I did the usual; I crouched got a good grip on the stroller, and began to lift and start toward the stairs. As I was getting my grip, an older guy (60's) offered to help. I wasn't used to people offerng me help, much less people twice my age, and it was my first time out with my wife while presenting female. In a very male voice, I said "nah, i'm good," realized I was in a skirt, looked at my wife, who started to giggle, and turned back to look at the guy who had disappeared. I did my best to ignore it and move on.

I still try and help were i can with lifting luggage etc for people who clearly need the help. I present male, or at least wear male clothing but i have lost some upper body muscle mass.
The other day this woman was struggling with two suitcases, trying to drag them one by one up the stairs at the train station. I was shocked that no one offered to help her, so i turned around and called out if she needed some help, which she accepted. I ended up carrying the smaller suitcase which really was half the size of the one she was lugging up and she clearly found very heavy. After the first flight of stairs i asked if she wanted to switch suitcases. She gave it some thought and then said no you just carry the one you got there.

I must admit i was a little taken a back and found it a little amusing that she thought that i wouldn't be able to handle the weight and yet she clearly couldn't either lol.
