Coffee?

So, before I started hrt I used to love coffee, I'd drink tons of the stuff.  I loved it that much that I'd regularly get through 5/6 cups out of the rank coffee machine at work.

Since starting HRT though the stuff makes me want to vomit!  I've tried to go in coffee shops only to run out clutching my nose/mouth trying to prevent a major mess in public!  When the machine near me is used excessively/cleaned I have to go to another part of the office for a while until the smell dissipates.

Has anyone else experienced this?  And is so how do you manage it?

My immediate supervisor refuses to let me move to another desk used by our team that is sufficient distance to prevent an episode being set off.  Out of the entire floor, I'm the closest person to the machine, meaning currently I'm having to vamoose  to a minimum safe distance when ever the machine is opened, this makes me not a very happy bunny.  My supervisor has said I should see a doctor about, which as far as I know would just cause chuckles on the doctors part!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! xx

Are you out at work? That sounds incredibly insensitive of your boss (regardless of whether you're out)!

Yup, been full time since the beginning of August.  Mind you, they are also wondering why I'm more cranky, temperamental and argumentative than I used to be.  It seems to me she thinks that I should be happy and hunky dory with everything and act just like I used to, that it's just a switch as opposed to an ongoing process.  I do get regular comments on my work being outstanding, I do things well above my job role all the time (the position above me calls for programming/scripting/automation skills, I'm the only person in the team that can actually do any of that to a sufficiently professional standard)

If it were possible, I'd venture that you were pregnant. I think it has to do with your hormones.

I've been on HRT for years and I drink coffee on almost a daily basis including weekends. It's my foolish alternative to breakfast.
"There was a sculptor, and he found this stone, a special stone. He dragged it home and he worked on it for months, until he finally finished. When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

Could your hormone levels be mimicing pregancy in some way? Any other symptoms?

Is coffee a problem with spiro (too much diuretic)? I'd heard it was and I'm getting my fill of it now before I cut Potassium, Coffee, and Alcohol :(.

Yeah, it sounds like a pregnancy related food aversion. It might never go away.
Food items my wife used to love but became an aversion during pregnancies, are still, even after 10 years, on her avoid list.

That's really sad. No one should have to give up something so essential to life as coffee.

That's what it appears to be, I do have massive cravings for big tasty chunks of smoked salmon (though that stuff is awesome anyway!)

It is a diuretic as far as I know, but have been unable to test how much it piles on top of the effects of spiro

Meh, I'm British, I can live with just drinking tea :)  It's more the massive debilitating urge to vomit when exposed to a strong coffee smell that's the problem :(

Everyone is different, and that's okay  8)  I love the smell and taste of coffee, but I'm rather particular about it

A friend of mine likes to tease me because I will only buy whole bean dark French or Italian style roasts and I have a coffee grinder

He'll point out the crap instant coffees and powdered creamers when he gives me a ride to the store

He also teases me about being allergic to bell peppers but it's all in good humor
The main things to remember in life are Love, Kindness, Understanding and Respect - Always make forward progress

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS
