Should I be worried?

Okay, this is a bit of a silly topic, but I'm sort of freaking out.  I'm supposed to be starting work next week, but I haven't heard back after my tuberculous test. In the past, I have verbally accepted the position and twice did it in writing (once online, and another at the hr department).  Last week, I went for a pre-employment drug test and have no reason to believe I would fail.  The next day day, I went for a physical and then met with security and hr.  Security gave me a permit for parking and took my photo id; hr had me hand in their 50 page work packet. At the end of my meeting with hr, they gave me a start date and a weekly schedule, so I assume everything is good.  This monday I sent back the results of my tuberculous test after visiting my doctor to read the results (this was required)  Since then, I haven't heard anything.  Now, I'm assuming that the TB test and the drug test came back okay, so they decided to not contact me and allow me to report to work on my start date.  I mean they would contact me if it didn't come back okay, right?  Do you think I should really be concerned.  I know that I don't have Tb nor did I have drugs in my system (other than hrt), so I should probably assume everything is okay and that they simply expect me to show up for the start date they gave me?  Right?  It's at the beginning of next week and haven't heard back, so that's why I'm a little nervous.

Sorry for my paranoia, but I really am excited about working and want to make sure everything goes to plan.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. If there was a problem with your tests, they'd tell you not to come in. Since you haven't heard from them, I'd assume everything is okay. :)

This is not uncommon with large companies... There is a big process that is reasonably efficient set up to handle intake, but somewhere along the line something often breaks down (your packet is on somebody's desk and they're on vacation or had an emergency surgery, who knows).

I recommend you call HR.  Speaking from the management end of things, it can only look good for you to be proactive and verify your start date.

*hugs*  I'm so excited for you! :)

I wouldn't worry, they would say something if there was anything amiss, after all they have committed to you at this point. You're over thinking it just like a female which in and of itself says a lot about you girlfriend!  ;D

Thanks everyone.  My mom and sister both think I am crazy for worrying, so I will take everyone's advice and take a chill pill.  I'm just eager to be a working girl again. I don't know how people can enjoy being unemployed or not working.  It totally sucks.  I don't know, I guess I like feeling useful and productive.

You're not crazy for worrying, sweetie, you're human. You're excited, and hopeful, and eager, and don't want anything to get in the way of taking another step forward in life. Frankly I'd be freaking out, too, lol (seriously).

All the best with your job, sweetie. If you put even one tenth of yourself into it as you do into the support and help you offer to everyone here, you won't be anything less than amazing.

*big hug*

You are going to be okay.  It's just paperwork and red tape.

HR departments can be slow sometimes, especially processing health and drug screening. If they've given you a start date, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm glad to hear you found a job! ^_^

The HR department at my work is pitifully slow. So slow that a engineer got a job but was never notified my our HR department that he actually got the job. He actually got a call from his boss wondering where he was at when he didn't show up to work on his first official day and that's how he found out he got the job.... Talk about a epic face palm moment.
