Thanks dalebert, it's good to be reminded that every cis-guy isn't a stud.

Dude!

Thank you.  Much needed perspective!

Heh, funny how much I look like that already. A bit off from the arms and legs, and that's pretty much me. :P

Hey, I'm not as far off as I thought. Sweet.

Perspective is paramount. Props to you for this post, much needed!

I agree that perspective is super important. Even guys who are born male can have this notion of what they SHOULD look like in their heads. The simple truth is not everyone has that idealized physique. And not just that, but it's damn hard to even attain it (and sometimes downright impossible).

De-lurking to say thanks for the perspective. The visual drives the point home better than just intellectually "knowing" that most cis guys aren't beefcakes either.

This is pretty interesting. I saw this on TV and they showed the average Japanese (shorter) and the average Norwegian (taller and thinner). I was actually kind of surprised that Mr. Joe Average doesnt' have more of a paunch. But still nice to see that he is pretty unremarkable. I'd say that except for his computerized kind of Sim face, he's pretty average in all respects.

It does put things in perspective.

Too bad the article shows Dutch men as much taller and slimmer. Yup, that's what I have to compete against. I should move away from the Netherlands as soon as my transition is done.

That was kind of depressing for me too. I think some height issues might stem from multi-generational nutritional issues. It seems Americans were doing pretty good for a while but now we have a generation or two of people eating a lot of processed foods.

My family is all Dutch, even the women are over 6 feet for the most part...and then there's me. 5'4" -_-

Oh sorry it was Netherlands. Hmm, happy I am not there I guess.

Yeah, that is exactly the hard part. Even the women are so incredibly tall. If I were MtF I'd be in heaven, but alas. It feels like a very cruel joke that I turned out to be trans and a dwarf amongst giants. I'm shorter than you are and shorter than most (95%) of the women here. Maybe that's why I feel so competative? I do know that the rest of the world is not so incredibly tall, and that helps. Just not when I'm out and about and only see shoulders, of men and women alike. Ah yes, I got dealt some good cards in life!

But anywho, sorry about making this positive post negative. I still think it puts things in good perspective and shows us that not all men are lean muscular studs.

Hmmmmm wonder where they got my old photo? That was my exact body type some 20 years ago, just got the "Love Handles" lipo-suctioned out to give my waistline great definition. Buuut I'm MtF and running away from the guy bod.
