My feet went down a size. I was a size 9 in women's shoes and I am now a size 8. I prefer to wear a size 8/12 though because my left foot tends to swell up a little because of my old fork lift injury.

I'm jealous of everybody and their tiny little feet. I wear 13-14 mens. I haven't found a shoe store yet that sell women's shoes that would fit my big paddle feet.

In comparison to most trans women, I am pretty short. I am 5'5. Which I think is why I have been asked by 2 other trans women at the last TDOR memorial service if I was there to support someone.

Weight reduction may result in a reduction in the required shoe size (high weight causes the foot to spread and more muscle mass to form to help control the foot movement).
Androgen blocking or elimination may result in a reduction in the required shoe size. (reduction of muscle mass).

Reduction is situational and dependent on the individual's genetics.
Someone losing 100+ pounds of weight is very likely to see noticeable change, losing 20 pounds not so noticeable.  Someone who has been athletic in a foot centric sport (e.g. free climber) that has strengthened their feet, is more likely to have noticeable change when blocking or eliminating androgens.

The selection and availability of women's shoes for large feet is limited, but not impossible, I'm male US size 14 to 15 with D width (Birkenstock 48) and I have many cute shoes.  I'll even admit that I have too many shoes (yes it is possible).
I buy shoes as soon as I find a style I like in a size that fits, the largest sizes are made in limited quantities and it is rare to find anything in stock for more than a few months. (The brands LaDame, Pleaser, Ellie do have reasonably consistent availability, but limited selection)

Hugs to all

That actually makes me very optimistic, because I have been a runner since high school. Looking at my foot now, a lot of the size appears to come from the muscle in my heels. If that were gone I think I could fit into a women's 10. Of course, I understand that it may not happen as instantly as I hope for it to, or even at all, but the fact that it may happen makes me feel much better :)

Hi all.

I just had a few questions about this. I know that as transgender women, we're prone to having larger feet than your average female. I myself wear a size 11.5 (US) womens, but can squeeze into an 11 and sometimes a 10. So a few questions I had about this:

  • Is it ever an issue when it comes to passing? When you're at a shoe store, for example, and the attendant is helping you pick the right size. Do they ever say "are you a man?" or something like that?
  • What stores do you shop at to get nice shoes your size? I have a very hard time finding places that sell shoes big enough for me and when they do, they're either sold out, or they don't have as good a variety.
  • I've heard some people say that they may go down a size after HRT. Is this true? How is it possible??

Guess I got lucky.  I wear a size 7 or 8 women's.  I love shoes.

wee - interesting. i needed shoes for gym and at the supermarket they had some for 10 bucks, but only in euro size 40, i thought what the heck, usually i buy 41, maybe they fit or i return them. and they actually fit. that is in comparison to a size 42 pre hrt which is 16 years ago but i gained 20 kg since then, or even 30. how...

  Hi ,

I just got a nice surprise today  :D
A couple of months ago I bought online some shoes in the biggest size they were available ( 10 and a Half in US Standards) , but they didn't fit and I was kinda sad , both because there was a reminder of how hard I will find shoes and because I liked those particular ones .
I just tried them again today and  :o they fit great . So today I am happy , again for both reasons : my feet did shrink a little and I can wear those shoes I like now .
Now I am looking forward to get some more feet size decrease in the future  :D .

Aparently, I am some sort of lucky, because I am 180 cm (5'11) and wear EU 41, which should be women's 9,5 - 10 US, depending of the converter. I know several even shorter cis girls, that wear the same size as me, so I have not big problems finding shoes.
In fact, before I started HRT, I wore one size bigger shoes - EU 42, which should be 10,5 or 11 US and my foot size was around 27 cm - now it is 26, so obviously there is a change :)
I don't know if it happens to everyone, but if I have to be honest, I didn't believe it, until it happened.

I never had a problem with sales people but then again I have very small feet for women as tall as me (5'11ish) let alone men. I just got a pair of heels (cuz I frankly don't care how tall I am lol glaamour is glaaaamuor, daahling) and they're size 8.5 (womens obvs).

:( us size 14 women's. Wouldn't be a point ever to going in a shoe store. But I think I lost size from weight loss, was in 15 first off. Amazon is my go to place. But really no selection of any regular styles for that size. But I do guess if my feet were smaller I might be broke lol  :P

mine went down a size or 2,
What happens is they get thinner, sightly shorter.

As for big feet, my best female friend is a size 10, 12 months ago she was a size 9, she's 28 now.
Her sister had a baby in June, now she has the biggest female feet I've ever seen. She went from a size 11 to a 13 after her baby, she now cannot find female shoes at all in her home town, so her feet look bigger than what they are
Yes! I'm single
And you'll have to be pretty f'ing amazing to change that

One thing i noticed is women's sizes vary a lot! i can easily wear an 8 in some brands.  i do where a 10 if it has a really high heel though. It's just more comfy that way. i'm lucky that me and my ex-girlfriend and niece all share the same shoe size. :)

Before starting hrt I wore a size 9 womens narrow, sometimes a 9 & 1/2 or 10 depending on brand as sizes vary a little. I bought this lovely pair of Puma athletic shoes in a size 10 cause I read a review that said they were sized a little small (big mistake) and a pair of Sarcony's Athletic shoes size 9 women's narrow, and a pair of sandals size 9 womens narrow. That was the 2nd week of March before I went on vacation -now they're all too big. My feet have actually shrunk and I'm now in a size 8 womens narrow, the same size as my SO who's cis. What's cool about things now is I looooove shoes, and myself and my SO can share ours. We wear the same sizes clothing wise too so we share outfits as well.

However in answer to your question Riversong, in my case my feet actually did shrink about a size and a half. That being said, you must remember that hrt affects all of us differently according to genetics.

Best wishes
