hello!

first time posting in the crossdressing setion, which i noticed is mostly mtfs XD

well anyway, yesterday i went to an anime convention. which was totally fun and amazing and if your crossdressing no one gives a damn because everyone is. I was dressed as http://fav.me/d3f4vpq kanji tatsumi from persona 4. one of my favorite guys, he breaks all kinds of boundaries. anyways, I bound my chest and felt so confident in myself. I even got a few great cosplay, dude. from a bunch of guys. i felt like my self esteem was so high dressed like that, im not sure if it's because i got to walk around as my favorite character or if because i was able to be "male" for a day. probably a mix of both.

but yeah with my boobs pretty much gone i was feeling like a million bucks.

i also saw a lot more guys dressed as girls characters than i have int he past, i was thinking good on them for having the courage, ya know? girls cosplay men all the time, and it's understandable, alot of animes have guys as the main characters. butt he other way around isn't as common. but yeah i totally saw a guy running around in a sweet lolita dress, and frankly he did it really well. XD

anyone else got cosplay or crossplay stories they wanna share, feel free to do so, i wanna hear, im in a good mood for once in what seems like a long time.

Hi BeefxCake!

Woot! Another cosplayer. Awesome that you had a wonderful time and your cosplay was appreciated. Cool character to cosplay too!

Yes, discovering Japanese pop-culture was the only reason I came out about wanting to crossdress. I felt amazed that all this time there had been a whole community in the UK, and a whole frickin' country that has actually has a positive "use" for feminine guys like myself, and those that want to play with gender either way. I am kicking myself that I didn't watch anime sooner, or read manga and thus find out about the cons. Conventions are seriously wonderful. And yep, no one cares about gender or hell, even about being human at the cons! Genuine boundless creatively and exploration. I adore the Japanese for their kick-ass sub-cultures like this. And I hate the West for only appreciating what it considers as "natural" human presentation and past-times.

Yay! I'm a lolita too! (or a brolita as they are known).

I don't have any crossplay stories as have never crossplayed, I don't think my face fits for any girl. I'd cosplay as Mana from Malice Mizer but then his is such a recognisable style with so much makeup that how I actually look probably wouldn't matter.

I've got loads of stories of my going to Lolita meet and cons in Lolita though. Been stranded in weird parts of town, on trains with football fans on, been exploring abandoned buildings, I even scored with one girl whilst in Lolita.

My first time in lolita to a con was crazy though. I was supposed to be on stage cosplaying as Baron (from Cat Returns) with my then girlfriend (who played Haru), and the show kept getting delayed. By the time we had done our routine on stage, I only had about 3/4 hour to change and wear lolita. That was the first time I noticed how emotional I felt having to go back into my normal male clothes after being in girl's clothes. I felt like I'd been punched in the soul.

Hooray for cosplay!
There are no more barriers to cross... But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis... I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.

When you find yourself hopelessly stuck between the floors of gender - you make yourself at home in the lift.

that's awesome XD

I enjoy looking at lolita, the sheer amount of detail and they look so adorable but i have never been motivated to do it myself XD I did do a prince lolita thing once (is that what it's called i dunno) and wore some half pants and a fancy vest and pearls everywhere but beyond that i only like looking at lolita.

I don't think i have ever cosplayed as a girl character, all of my cosplays are male characters :P and honestly when i dress as a guy and bind and stuff i feel fantastic XD

also mana is awesome i used to follow a lady on youtube who had an amazing mana cosplay(s) the style is so dramatic i love it.

but yeah, the japanese have somethin goin on over there, cons are good for knocking down barriers.

I heard that cosplay is also known here in S. Korea, certainly under the influence of Japanese anime.
I am not quite sure how much popular it is among Korean teens, but the following photo, originated from Japan, was once circulated in SNS here. The title is like "Marvelous  make-up skills of men".

According to the post, he is a middle school student.

Barbie@ yes cosplay is definitely a thing in s korea! Of course in japan it is more mainstream because anime but korea also does anime, and better quality ones in my opinion. I think video games might be a bigger thing there than anime? Just an observation i hear more about video games from korea than i do anime or movies.

BeefxCake,

Yes. Internet games are too popular here, compared with other countries.

Yesterday, I declared a war against internet games to my 3 kids. Confiscating the last laptop PC at home. Last year, I already moved our home desktop PC to my office. My little daughter still can play games using the smartphone of me or my wife. Nowadays, people at their age 50 or 60 are indulged in smartphone gamesStatistics shows that 10-20 millions play smartphone games every day. It equals to nearly 1/5~2/5 of the entire S. Korean population.

Because boys tend to like playing internet games more than girls, the average academic ability of boys has greatly reduced and more girls now enter prestigious colleges here.

I'm actually planning on Crossplaying at my first con in Late Oct.  I'm dressing up as Leela from Futurama and I have a girlfriend who is going to dress as Fry.  I'll let you all know how it goes :)

Hi...  :D
This is a subject I find interesting... by the following fact: many people find it strange someone wearing an outfit from the "opposite gender", however, if as a "hobby" or if anyone perceives goes unnoticed ...
This seems to show a form of socialization, especially in places where people are more "traditional" in its concepts... surely andor getting ready to attend an event Anime, in December... Let's see if it will be a new experience...
