Hello everyone, it has now been one calendar month since I started HRT, so I thought I would write a short update about my experiences thus far. I am taking cyproterone acetate and oral estradiol.
I must say, that the biggest positive change for me so far has been psychological. Aside from some crazy mood swings at the beginning and after my estradiol dosage was increased, I feel excellent. It just feels so satisfying to know that I am finally on my way. I feel a lot more relaxed and happy than before. I suppose a lot of this is not directly connected to the estrogen, but I could be wrong. Either way, I really like it.
Physical changes have been a lot more subtle, and, at this point are probably mostly in my head :) That said, my skin is a lot dryer and clearer than before and there is no way I can get away with not moisturizing anymore. My testicles are also noticeably smaller and spontaneous erections no longer happen. Also, in the past few days I have really started to notice some pain behind my nipples. It comes and goes, so I may be imagining it, but I like to think that I'm not  :)
Some negative things. Saddly, yes. There have been a few negatives. The worst was the leg cramping I had for a good two or three weeks. My doctor decided to play it safe and sent me for some tests to rule out a blood clot. Fortunately, they came back fine and the pain has mostly gone away. I guess it was just my body getting used to the new regime. Aside from that I have had some mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats. My doctor thinks it was the result of my E being too low, so he doubled my dosage on Friday. Hopefully that will help.
So all in all, it has been a pretty good month and I am excited to see what the second one brings.

I can agree with nearly all your observations as I am about a week behind you.

I love the mental changes that have occurred in that I feel happy for once in my life.
I have had similar results down there and love it.
My chest has not got that sore yet but it has become much more sensitive ;)
My muscles ache and I went through some bad headaches as the body adjusted.

One other thing you might want to check is for a huge smile.
Mine came after a week or so and is hard to remove.

So looking forward to increasing the dosage and the next few months of this fantastic ride.  ;D

Congrats!

By the way, I also had a leg cramp.  I was exercising a lot initially, but it felt more like a reaction to the medication.  I don't have a blood clot either an it went away fairly quickly after I got used to estradiol, so it's interesting we both experienced that.

Hello LTL,
Yes, that is really strange. I also thought it was from exercising at first, actually, but it hurt in strange places for exercise pain. It started on the third day I was on HRT and lasted about 2 and a half weeks. It has gone away now, thankfully.
Hi Jen,
First, congratulations on starting HRT. It is really exciting, isn't it? Also, the smile thing is funny. People in my office keep asking me what I smiling about. It is a new experience for me, that's for sure!

Hi Mary,

Congrats Honey.

The smile was the first thing that my work colleagues noticed as well.

BTW CA can cause quite severe mood swings, just keep an eye on them and let the endo know. You can go onto spiro as an alternative in some places in the world which has less of a depressant effect.

Hi Cindy,
Thank you for the advice about the CA. The mood swings have eased a lot, thankfully. That said, I will keep an eye on the issue. I told my doctor at my last appointment which was on the 25th. He made a note of it, but didn't seem too concerned.

Yes it is better than Christmas morning. Between you and me I wont tell them why your smiling, our little secret;) It's so good to be happy and I agree it is new to me as well.
It's going to take a lot to wipe the smile from my face.
The other thing is it feels so "right".

Hugs
