Could this be caused by binding?

Joe.

Ok, I will firstly admit that I am probably binding for too long every day, and maybe my binder is a little tiny bit too small for me.

The past couple of days I have been having a bad pain in my stomach and my chest. My chest feels swollen and when I sit down and my binder presses my stomach, I get a terrible pain. When I put my binder on in the morning, my chest feels tight and a pain goes through my chest to my back. It has also been hurting when it pushes on my stomach. I've been trying to have days off from binding but most days I just have to bind. Not binding isn't an option for me. I have to. Could these pains be caused by my binder or does it sound like something else?

Oooh...so I had a few episodes of costochondritis (rib inflammation) from binding over the years, and I'm sorry to say that sounds very similar. I hate to tell you but what I've had to do is stop binding for a week or two, let my ribs heal, and then I moved up a binder size which decreased the frequency of the episodes. Honestly, at first when I kept binding anyway, the pain got so bad that my chest felt like it was on fire so I learned my lesson the hard way. I couldn't even bind for more than a few minutes while swimming with Keaira because of the pain.

I know that's the last thing you want to hear, because I hated facing the possibility myself, but the pain really isn't worth it and your chest can't really heal without the break. :(

I think that if you are experiencing pain like this, speculating about what it could be is dangerous - we are not doctors and neither are you.  See your doctor and get a professional opinion - you could have something serious going on.  Perhaps it's something simple, but unexplained sudden pain and swelling is not normal and should be evaluated.
