LOL yeh I've been going on there for about 2 years now.  Though last month or so not been on there as much as usual I still go on there :)
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

I have a SecondLife presence, but I am one of those people who believes that SL is not a game. It seriously bothers me whenever I hear anyone say they "play" SecondLife. For me it is a vehicle for the creation of art. I had a major gallery showing of my work there this past May. It is also a place for me to connect with my friends.

Yeh I don;t consider Second life a game either, it's a community just as this place is.  Though I do Role Play there so guess the Role Play is a game of sorts inside the community but I also hang out, do crazy stuff, chat with friends and well adopted sl family lol.  Enjoy changing form a lot, though often around there in human form sometimes be everything from wolf, dragon, werewolf, sidhe, horse etc

They have or had a transgender community there somewhere but I only tried involving there a short time.  Preferred just being a guy and enjoying myself.   Most in the group seemed be MtF to and no offense to the ladies here but at that point it was just to uncomfortable to be a guy and end up seeing chat about them wanting breasts and such every time I logged in, while understand we both deal with some same issues it's hard for an understanding on other issues that are completely opposite.  Sometimes guys need other guys to talk to.

I know I was rather dependent on SL for an escape for a while.  Though lately have found myself actually escaping to rl from SL.  strange that sounds.  But sure I can add you, just have to remember to, keep forgetting lol.

Just well something to be careful of and it was an eye-opener to me to.  Don't let escape keep you from taking care of the rl issue.  I've seen that happen to a few transgender folk in sl.  A woman in particular who spend the last 5 years in sl and stuck in her transition in rl.  And in a way this sorta happened for a period for me to.

Easy to forget into an escape but always have to come back to reality.

Several of them actually. I never really got involved with them either. I just preferred being myself without having to deal with the trans stuff.

Some months back I participated in a symposium in SL at a university's SIM on the topic of SecondLife and Identity. It was an interesting discussion. It seemed like there are two approaches to the creation of SL avatars. One is the expression of some part of the RL person that has remained supressed in real life. The other is an effort by the creator to make their avatar as much like their RL self as possible. And very often a person will start out in the first category and end up in the second.

Yes, it's been a great help in practising aspects of female language and behaviour via a silent chat interface that have to do with interaction and poise, rather than voice pitch, resonance and tracheal shaves.

But I have done so as Deep Stealth.

Men in SL playing women are so obvious, it makes me want to laugh :)

I see you there, Savannah... I'll send you a contact request once I create a TG alt... :)  Someday you'll meet 'me' too :)
