My laser tech told me the skin on my face is getting dried out.

I went to the store to see what they had. There were three whole racks of facial skin care products for women. Some cost a fortune. I have no idea what works and what is hype.

How do you take care of your face? What brands/products do you use?
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

After the laser I use elocon (a cortisone cream) that's fine.
For everyday, I have a combination skin. I use "dark angel" from Lush as an exfoliant. To moisturize the face, I use "Enzymion" always at Lush. For the outline of my eyes is very dry, the nivea blue box. It's probably not perfect, but it improves things.

I use neutrigena(sp?) usually. Just the regular stuff for before putting on makeup and if I don't forget, I'll use some of the alpha hydroxy type at night, but half the time, I skip it. Besides, the dog seems to like to like my face right after I put that stuff on, I think he likes the taste or smell of it. I suck at sticking to any sort of regimen for anything, including my hrt.  Which reminds me, I should probably pop a pill or two...

I use st. ives facia moisturizer and a triple action primer from Clinique. I also exfoiate everyday with a ProX brush and wash my face with Neutrogena Visibly Bright.

My God Suzi, what planet have you been living on up until now? The one cosmetic ALL women use is skin moisturiser, at minimum for the face. However they don't have to cost a fortune.

As a mature lady I use a both a day and a night cream (and actually started years ago before I gave any serious thoought to transition). L'Oreal do excellent mid-range products such as their "Age Perfect" skin creams. Nivea, who Alice mentioned, also do excellent basic products (eg Nivea Soft range used by my wife) which I have seen rated as highly as many far more costly products in compartative reviews.

Best of luck finding your way in the skin cream jungle.. :)

P.S. Like Joanna, i also do a daily deep skin clean routine using a Clairsonic Mia 2 and a very gentle skin cleanser. It all seems to be working as the most feminine thing about me when i started out was my skin..

I use this insanely expensive stuff that was deeply discounted at CVS (the rep was there). I think I'll move to something cheaper when it's gone, but this stuff does work wonders - my face looks sooo much better lately (gives it a bit of a glow after some weeks using it).

Thankfully you only use about a pea sized bit at a time... maybe it's actually worth the $30 (I paid $10 and thought I got ripped off ;))

It took forever... but I found it on Amazon... $25. Ouch!

Yes they cost a lot but u have to remember for many women, myself included, stuff like makeup and cute tops are what we want to spend money on. Not all women are lke this but its a sizeable amount otherwise the beauty industry and fashion mags wouldn't make oh so much money. My hunky BF thinks its lame but that's why he is a guy and I am not.

Ladies, one good make up remover and moisturizer that worked for me way back when, is Pond's cold cream. It says for washing your face but it worked for me.

I like Oil of Olay's lineup of skincare, but I get alot of Crabtree and Evelyn for free... so I tend to use the Crabtree and Evelyn more. :)
