Hello everybody :)

I'm Emma, and I'm from Sweden. I used to have an account here a few years ago, but then depression made me a bit anti-social, so I guess it got closed due to inactivity. Not that I was very active before that :)

My life in general:
Two years ago I left my boring office job to go to college, where I'm studying to become a nurse. So far I've gone through two semesters, and right now I'm finishing a few courses I didn't pass the first time, so I'm sort of doing semester 2.5 before I can start my third semester (out of six). In my spare time I write music, do remixes, play games or watch others play games.

Transitional status:
In april (or may) 2012 I had my first appointment with the local gender identity team. And in june this year I got my diagnosis. The first thing I did was to have my name changed and then come out on facebook, directing people to a new account with my new name. 30 out of about 100 friends/family members joined me after the account switch, but not all of my old friends got to see my coming out message.
In july I started electrolysis, and even though we've cleared a lot, there's still a lot left to do. My tax money pays for the face, the chest, the arms and the thighs until I don't need more than one session per month. After that I have to pay for whatever needs getting done.
Early august I had my first appointment with a speech therapist. We made some recordings which she analyzed with a fancy computer display. And today, after almost three months, she's decided that I don't need any more sessions. We're only going to meet once more to make some final recordings, and once before that just in case I think of any questions or if I run into any problems.
Early september I got my prescription for estrogen and antiandrogens. After 24 hours I noticed that all of my anxiety and negative feelings were gone. After a week the body fat had started shifting a bit, mostly towards the breasts. After a month my breasts started hurting, and also growing for real. Not just fat redistribution, but actual breast growth. Now after two months I'm up to a B-cup (the upside of having a bit of extra weight). And a few days ago I realized that the body hair grows really slowly.

Social situation:
Most of my friends have been completely supportive from the start. And some friends don't seem to have anything to say, especially whenever I use the words "doctor's appointment", those two words can for some reason end conversations with some friends.
My father doesn't really seem to care much, but he rarely has any strong opinions about anything. My sister doesn't seem to care much either, but she tries to be supportive when she can. I haven't heard anything from my brother since coming out, and he hasn't sent a friend request on facebook, but his girlfriend followed me to my new account, and she clicks the like button whenever I have any updates.

And that's what I could think of as an introduction. If I missed anything major, just ask :)

Hi, Emma!  :D

You can add us to your list of people who support you. You can also add us under "family." Come on in and make yourself comfortable. The people here really are some of the most supportive, excellent, positive, amazing people I've ever been lucky enough to know. Let me know if I can do anything to help.  ;D

I'd rather see the world from another angle
We are everyday angels
Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way

Hi Emma! You have been adopted and I am glad to have yet another sister. This is still the best family to be with and is respectful, knowledgeable and fun. I find this place so addictive I rarely ever spend any time anywhere else. My family here has already gotten me through some rough patches with caring and genuine honesty. So welcome and I look forward to meeting you in the topics. BIG HUG!  :)
