I used the males toilets out in public for the first time today!!! I didn't get any looks or anything! I just went in, did my business, then left. Gosh it was such a good feeling! I am so proud of myself! :D

Congrats!

Any interesting graffitti on the stall's door? Usually this is the most interesting point of a public toilet (when they are not xenophobic slurs or phone numbers). Or what I tried to concentrate in to avoid thinking about the overall filth...

Thankyou!
I used the stall as I don't have an STP, and there was no graffiti unfortunately. I love reading it sometimes. The toilets I used were really clean actually. I feel it was a pretty big step for me and Im so proud ! :D

good for you,  mynameisjacob, confidence goes along way, just go in do your business and you should be fine.  I use a stall all the time as I have not mastered a STP.  Almost all of them that I use are clean and very little graffiti.

Way to go Jacob! I felt the same way the first time I used the ladies room in public. It's such a huge relief (pun). :)

Oh dear, but I second that!   Oddly, from my experience so far, outside of stains on the floor on occasion, I've discovered that men's rooms are often cleaner... although fancy women's rooms rule.  Never thought I'd see a couch or a lighted makeup mirror in a bathroom before.  :)

Don't worry overmuch about standing to pee... I know a couple of CIS gendered men who sit to pee by preference.  And the "Code of the Bathroom" is to be silent, ignore everyone, and above all not to attract attention, so I imagine you'll have no problem.  Interestingly, there are CIS men who break that taboo, but they actually realize they are breaking it and are ok if no one responds, or if their only response is a grunt with averted eyes.

One of these days I think I'll write a book about male behavior through the eyes of a tourist (since I've been female all my life, though in denial, I learned a *lot* through observation).  :)

Congratulations on your first of many trips into the last bastion of male-dom!

Well done!  It's scary at first but that is where you are supposed to be, and hopefully it will become less of an occasion and just part of the day.

LOL  One of my favorites ways to rate a pub is by the quantity and quality of the prose. Sadly it seems to becoming extinct. I guess no way exists yet to 'text' a urinal.

Funny but true. However even the once mighty TXT is dying out. Most kids I know use a social networking solution to send out super cheap or free txt like messages that just skip the short messaging system entirely. Then they can like, share, tag, tweet, tumbler, Facebook, embed files, etc all from one window on the their phone. And here I remember my grandfathers rotary dial phone thinking it was so much cooler than the regular phone my parents had at home. ;)

Alas, I have found women's rooms to be free of such wonderful reading material.  Once I stumbled upon some prose so powerful it remains with me to this day...

"Here I sit,
All broken hearted;
I came to $#!#,
but only farted."

O woe is us, that such a great cultural pillar is fading into obscurity.

By the way, I did come by one message recently, so the art form isn't completely lost; there are still some lonely artists fighting hard to preserve our cultural heritage.  I read that Billy's mom is very friendly, for those in the Lubbock, TX area...
