Teen found guilty of trying to kill transgender

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa teen accused of trying to kill a transgender man (sic) has been found guilty of attempted murder.

Tavares Spencer was tried as an adult on charges that included attempted first-degree felony murder, attempted second-degree murder and robbery. His trial began Monday. He was found guilty on Thursday.

Police said detectives determined that the teen shot the 23-year-old McDonald because he was a man who dressed like a woman.
