The moment Mayor Bob Kiss unfurled the flag was a historic one for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied people in Vermont. It's the first time any group has flown a flag at City Hall. Kiss praised the gay community as being an integral part of Vermont life.

"Burlington's a great city as a result of our all working together," Kiss said.
