Mercédes

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd make my introduction something like a game I learned at a group retreat. Just something to break the Ice and share some things with the group. it's called "Three Truths and a Lie" of these four short stories from my life one is a lie. This will require a bit of interaction and guessing on the part of everyone else and will draw me back to this thread to elaborate on some of your guesses.

1.
I have a non Identical twin sister (dizygotic twin) she is a total tomboy and Idolized me as a brother, she's not very receptive of my transition and doesn't speak to me much any more.

2.
I am an intrepid traveler, I've lived in Europe (Germany), been to the north pole, and have visited every continent with the exception of Antarctica. my most resent traveling has been to the high desert of Nevada where I spent well over a month living in one of north Americas harshest environments.

3.
I'm native american, and view myself as a two spirited person, being active my tribes traditional medicine circle I am often asked for my view points on relationship issues and sought out as a mediator for couples counseling. My gender duality is viewed as a strength and I am therefore double blessed.

4.
I am (or was) a baby prophet. I predicted the sex of 28 consecutive babies of my family and friends. beginning when I predicted my brothers birth the day my mother told us she was pregnant. I lost this Skill upon the birth of my son in 1998.

Welcome to Susan's.

Do you really think the desert in Nevada is one of North America's harshest environments?  I think of Alaska when I think harsh.

Hi Mercedes
welcome to Susans! We have people come to visit us from all over the world, expressing different points of view, and you are likely to find someone to help you along your way :) Here are some important links and things to ponder as you begin your journey here.

It sounds like you have had a very interesting life so far!

I look forward to your posts and insight.

Hi, Mercedes!  :D

Welcome to the family. These people are amazingly supportive, I can't say enough good things. No judgements, no negativity, just positive acceptance. I think you'll like it here.  ;D

Fun challenge... I really want to go with #2, but only because very few people make it to the north pole (but not no one). Instead I'll go with #1, for no real good reason.  ;)

Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way

Why thank you for the warm greeting everyone!
Thank you for this site Susan. I've been poking around a bit and those links you pointed out were pretty helpful, I'll be sure to remember this forum as the resource it is.
I am a member of quite a few other forums dealing with art, communal living, and other personal interest but I've never joined a forum with such a opening response. makes a girl fell welcome. :)

Mercédes is a really pretty name :)

thank you Willow,
As many of us know Transitioning is a lot to do with Identity issues. unlike other parts of transitioning; deciding on my feminine name came quite easy. Mercédes was my given middle name at birth; later when I was adopted at age 8, my parents renamed me. Reclaiming my name has been very empowering in dealing with these identity issues, It gives me continuity it helps me see who I've always been.

As far as truth and lies; LordKAT and Magdalena pretty much outed me on one truth. I am a traveler; always have been, hope to stay that way. As a child I would read National Geographics under the blankets with a night light, and pour over maps and atlases learning geography, the names of peoples; their languages and their histories, I developed an affinity to peoples and cultures that were/have been subjugated, colonized or suppressed. Seeing how a nation could change it's national Identity in a single generation gave me a profound love and interest in Germany, my years spent there were some of the best years of my life so far. My most recent travels this past summer to the High desert of Nevada taught me about treating ones self gently and cautiously in a harsh uncaring environment, daily temperatures well above 100° and scarce water sources miles apart made me calculate every movement. The juxtaposition of Stark beauty and deadly terrain served as a back drop as I reflected on society and transitioning; how emotional landscapes can be so beautiful yet harsh at the same time.

so yeah, a bit more about me.
oh LorKat I guess that's why I said ...one of the harshest... some day, when I can, perhaps I'll see more of Alaska something beyond the panhandle perhaps.

Hi Mercédes, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 8250 members. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Mercédes, a warm welcome to you!

I am the parent of dizygotic, boy-girl twins.  They are now 24 years old.  When they were younger, they exhibited "idioglossia" (twin speak).  They both have graduated from college; one has a Masters degree, the other is working on theirs.

They are unusually close for siblings, so I believe that your #1 is TRUE.

No Jamie, that is the story of one of my exe's, he came out as bisexual and she wouldn't accept either of us. I chose this as my Lie because I'm not good at making stuff up. sorry. :-\

Cool, OPI is great polish, I just love the names & it wears so great. My nails were nice & long a few weeks back & I cut them some. Never again I hope, trying slow down & wear gloves if I have to do anything very physical with my hands to protect them better.  Glad you are a member. Please have a great day. Off shopping today for some new dresses with a cis woman friend.
