Hello Everyone,

My name is Sneha and I am from India. Sneha, in Hindi, literally means love. I chose this name for my femme self as it personifies how I want feel for the rest of my life - loved.

I am a closeted MTF transgendered person, who will be 30 in a few months. As I near 30, I am petrified with what it signifies. The number 30 signifies to me three decades of living a lie. Living as a person who I am not. Despite all my frustration, I am petrified to seek help from a therapist or doctor. Let alone, I do not even know if I can find a supporting doctor in my country of over two billion people.

I am sorry for my rant in my first ever post on the forum. But, from what I have read so far, I am sure that Susan's will serve as my beacon of hope, a lighthouse, to guide me safely to harbour.

Thanks for your time to read through my rant.

xoxo - sneha

Welcome to Susan's

I don't know what is like in India for people like us. If it is a scary place to transition, can you easily travel to a place that is more friendly?

Hi Sneha, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm from Boston. Our Wiki has a list of surgeons, but it only had one doctor in India, and the link was inactive. Try this information, though: Dr. Sheila Rohatgi, Kolkata, West Bengal. I know India is big, hope this helps, hugs, Devlyn

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Hi Shana and wellcome to Susan.

If you have troubles finding doctor in india you can try seach or make social groups for transgenders in india on facebook and so.
In in my country we also have problems with finding doctors so we make groups like this for people to share experience and information with each other and its more easy than seaching alone.

On, still on, I wandered on,
And the sun above me shone;
And the birds around me winging
With their everlasting singing
Made me feel not quite alone.
