Propecia/Finasteride question

Finastetide has been clinically shown to cause impotence and depression much greater than the placebo control. The warning flier in the prepackaged box states that very clearly. However, baldness can cause depression and and estrogen can cause impotence, as well. I've taken propecia, been bald and depressed, and am now on estrogen and dealing with ED.

I'd rather take the propecia, preserve hair and deal with the ED via cialis and not worry about it.  So far my strategy is working fine.

Great! I am glad you are doing fine and not experiencing brain fog or depression. Please let us know how it goes.

I've been taking propecia now for several months with no problems, and my endo actually upped the dose to use it as an AA (I hope this is within the acceptable terms????)

In my case I used the big gun, Dutasteride. First with an indian  generic and for the last four months with real Avodart. The second month I suffered my worst ever major depression (suicidal ideations et al), but I would not put the blame on it, despite whatever other people say.

Nothing else has happened since then. I had bloodwork done for liver function before switching to avodart, and know I need to do another control.

I have been taking it for may be 7 years. It gave me slightly breast as my chest is not flat anymore. First it scared me but now I like that side effect.

I assume that as my breast reacted well to this small dose it may go much bigger under or androcur + estrogen. You agree ?

I am happy to have taken fina to keep my hair. The doc told me that I had a feminine balding. Losing all around so no real hole. Just losing density and thickness.

Edited for dosages

I just ordered a 4 month supply of the generic brand. I hope it helps some. Guess I should have started long ago.

Thanks for posts, experience.

So after 7 weeks on E I can happily say that my original question has been answered as E is a perfect fit for my cistern.
I had no problems with Finasteride before starting E and have mostly felt wonderful with no depression at all. There have been a few moments but they passed quickly.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Jen, Thanks. I'm 3 months on E & spiro, changed to patches on E a month ago, so much easier. Guess Propecia cannot hurt, I'll ask my doc, but all ready ordered.

Have a great day girl friend.

Ugh. I did not like Finasteride - I found that it sent me right into a mixed state of both mania and depression... not a good mix with my Bipolar brain.  After having an allergic reaction on Spiro, at least Finasteride didn't try to kill me.  But I still hated it & how it screwed with my moods!  This is why I rushed impulsively to just get an orchie & then proceed with Estradiol alone.  In any case, my moods have been better on Estradiol + Bipolar meds...
(Note: I do not recommend showing complete disregard for the standards of care the way I did, it does not lead to a good end)
