Last night, my girlfriend and I went to a store to get a nice, fat dessert cookie. There was a particular kind we were looking for but could not find. She asked an employee, a butch woman who was standing with her back to her, and addressed her with, "Excuse me, sir?" The woman turned around much to my lady's embarrassment. She apologized to the woman and asked about the cookies.

A minute later, we were talking to somebody I know about said cookies. This time, she referred to me as "he!" I know she's just used to it that way and didn't mean anything by it. It was a genuine mistake. But I teased her for it.  :)

A minute ago, I changed the gender marker on my profile to indicate female. It felt like I was rushing things, so I changed it back to nothing. I'm still at a place where I'm becoming a girl, but I don't feel like I'm there yet. TO ME, that's something that has to be earned. Earn the title of girl, THEN LATER earn the title of woman. This is my truth, for me.
