What can I expect?

Hi all, I've been referred to the London clinic, and will hopefully start making some serious progress with HRT if everything goes to plan!

I think this topic may have come up before but I'm wondering if there are any new opinions that I can get on the effects of HRT.

Basically, I'm a shade under 6"0, I got lucky in the hands and feet department with similar size hands to my mum (just slightly larger) and size 7 (UK) feet - however, I'm wondering if there's any chance I will have a reduction in height. If it's not going to be possible, then I guess I learn to live with my tallness...I'd just like to be a little smaller haha.

Thanks x

From reports on Susan's... it can happen (no more than 1-2") but it definitely isn't something you should expect. It seems to be an exception more than a rule.

Thanks for your reply! I have noticed some people claiming to have lost 4", which I thought made no sense from a biological point of view.

I can imagine a slight loss in height from softening of the feet and perhaps from posture due to dropping of shoulders.

What you should expect is that your body will feminize, to the extent depends on your genetics and age. Different people have different results, also be very patient! As for your height I can't say but don't expect you're body to shrink, it is all anecdotal evidence. What matters the most is that you live how you want plus there are so many tall beautiful women. An old friend of mine was almost your height and was just gorgeous. Have confidence in yourself girl!

I certainly think 4in is wishful thinking. Over the years I've lost about half an inch, so I am about 5ft 7in tall. But that could simply be due to age.

However, the biggest change I have experienced is my feet, which were size 8.5 (UK) when I started in the 80s and have been for the past 20 years or so a comfortable size 7 (UK). But that could be simply the "foot binding" effect of forcing them into smaller shoes. I hated them when they were size 8.5, now they look lovely.

Regarding your height, I would say try to avoid very high heels. A TG friend of mine who is the same height as me, has been described by a mutual aquaintance as being 6ft tall.

I can't persuade her to wear smaller heels.

The good news is, there are plenty of women these days who are your height, so don't worry about it. It's much more important to come across as feminine, with your body movements and voice. Crack that and your height will not be an issue.

Best of luck with your future. Remember, it only gets better.
