I recently got a job that's super high stress and while I don't mind it and the pay is nice, I was looking for something a lot better so that I don't go off the deep end. I don't handle that much stress very well.
Well it happened! I found a different job working for a well known company that has small retail stores. Very easy job aside from memorizing all of the products and learning what they're for/do. The employees are super down to earth and friendly, and almost all of the customers are too (based on my previous shopping experiences from the past 10 years).
The best part? One of the ladies that works there has helped me out before while shopping, and she quietly asked me what gender pronouns I prefer. That same visit she suggested that I fill out an application since they were looking for help, and I did... and got hired! I was able to be completely honest with the manager, and the girl who asked me the pronoun question told me away from the other employees that she'd dated a trans person before and had worked hard to make their shop LGBT friendly. She told me she'd be the first to stick up for me correcting people when they made a mistake about pronouns.
I have a job that I'm going to really enjoy AND I get to go around as BEN (my chosen name) AND I have an ally. I'm stoked.
