I feel so much better on HRT. I think its one of those miracle cures. Truly my life been so depressing its truly amazing I'm still alive. I just love being on hormones The only thing I'd change in my life if It was possible  would be to start HRT many years ago. I can really say I'm happy. It's only been 3 weeks ,but I think my face is showing it a little . I don't know for sure but its looks as though I can see the feminization starting. the doubts I had when I statred disappear when I look at my face in the web cam. It would of been truly amazing if I could of done this in high school. I'm waiting for that moment when someone comes up to me and says that I look different. to me this is such a beautiful experience. Just to think I've been so sad all my life.

Congratulations on beginning HRT! It's a huge first step. Many people get frustrated and increase their dose when they don't see immediate changes, and it's important NOT to fall into that trap as time moves on.

Taking more hormones than the dose you were prescribed is not a good way to try to speed up changes. Taking a higher dose can actually slow down the changes you want: extra estrogen in the body can be converted to testosterone by an enzyme called aromatase. Taking more than your prescribed dose also greatly increases your health risks. If you think your dose is too low, talk with a health care professional who has trans health training to discuss options. It may be better to try a different type of medication or combination of medications, rather than increasing the dose.aking more hormones than the dose you were prescribed is not a good way to try to speed up changes. This is what you can expect as a rough timeline:

1–3 months after starting estrogen:

• softening of skin
• decrease in muscle mass and increase in body fat
• redistribution of body fat to a more "feminine" pattern
• decrease in sex drive
• fewer instances of waking up with an erection or spontaneously
having an erection; some MTFs also find their erections are less
firm during sex, or can't get erect at all

Between 1 and 2 yrs:
• decreased ability to make sperm and ejaculatory fluid
• nipple and breast growth
• slower growth of facial and body hair
• slowed or stopped "male"-pattern balding • decrease in testicular size

You won't believe how soft your skin will get as the first sign........ :)

Welcome,
Kelsie
Be the change you want to be :)

Yay! Congrats! Happy for you. I'm hoping to feel the same when I start HRT within the next month. I've been told before that I always seem 'contemplative' or 'have a sadness about me.' Of course I know what that is, though no one except my parents, my best friend, my therapist, and soon my endocrinologist know. So glad to hear that that feeling is starting to be lifted in you. Good luck on your journey!

Estrogen is amazing!  I am right there with you when I say that the difference is beyond what I ever imagined.  The changes are so subtle but at the same to SOOO enjoyable.  This is before I even begin to talk about the physical changes (I'm still waiting patiently for that).

Hearing your happiness make me happy!
