Hey! Im FTM and bind with a 997 from underworks, but the thing is, the lower part of it keeps rolling up and its really hurting my ribs. I was wondering if you could like cut it so just a small part would cover the stomach, so it cant roll up? But its like two layers so maybe you could like swe or something? Ive only had a binder for like a week now, so I dont have much experience. It would mean the world if you had a solution! And sorry if this kind of post already exists!

yo, i used to have this problem all the time, and there's a few things you can do to fix it!

first, you can tuck it into your briefs/pants and use a belt and tighten it so it doesn't move up as much. i did that a lot in high school, mostly because i didn't have to move around too much besides gym.

second, you can pull the bottom half to cover your chest again so it binds twice as well! although it tens to slip if you pull it over, but if you pull it under itself, it stays even if you're moving around a lot

if you're want to compress your hips more with it, i suggest just investing in compression shorts. it's a lot less hassle then trying to keep your binder from rolling up all the time. also, your chest is more flat at the same time

hope this helped a bit!

Duztex, it looks like rolling up is common with the 997. Here's a search tip for you. Click "Forums" at the top of the page to bring you to the board index. Type "binder rolls up" in the search box, that will search the whole site for you. Lots of hits on that one. Hugs, Devlyn

Yeah Ive tried tucking it in and it worked, but I dont have a belt in gym class for example haha :D
Its kinda too tight to pull the bottom half under the chest. But thanks though, those are really great answers! :)

I had a similiar problem bro, nobody else's fixes would work for me. I ended up cutting it to a sports-bra like length (I hate calling it that though) and it was such a good decision for me. Didn't sew it or anything, it's cooperating fine and it doesn't unravel or anything.

Oh okay! But its like two layers though, doesnt one layer like roll up or something then? And doesnt it ruin the tightening or whatever?

You can cut them of course. I used to use the Loveboat and found that they did roll up and I could easily tuck in my pants. Of course you may not want to cut, but if it's driving you to distraction... you should know they don't ravel apart or anything. The material is such it can be cut anyway you like without problems. I got a gv compression shirt that I cut around the arms-- no problem.

When i first read the post, my first thought was binder roll ups, yummm. (I notice you actually said binder rolls up, not so yummy).

I do sometimes end up with one layer rolling up a little bit but it isn't bothersome at all- if you cut it short enough, then it's got no reason to roll up. And personally my binder was so old anyways that I can't tell you with 100% certainty if it affects the binding.

I have the 997. Simple solution is to fold the bottom up about an inch or two. Then you still have belly and hip compression.

I cut mine with no problems at all, but I have a gc2 long compression shirt, and to stop that doing anything I tuck it into my trousers but over my boxers. That works better for me as the boxers give it something to grip to so it doesn't roll up as much.

Hope the gc2 is working well for you. I know that you probably got the idea to order one from me. The gc2 is a little lighter weight. I just cut mine under the arms. I actually liked the binder to be long. Didn't remind me of a bra.

Yeah you gave me the idea. They're actually working really well for me, I can't stand much that much compression to be honest, a bit like you, except there's no sensory issues behind it. It's just painful. I don't mind the underarm compression at all though, I just like being able to breathe/eat without stomach pain. I vaguely remember my 997 before I cut it and having it over my boxers but under my trousers worked for that too, I was just reluctant to do it because I didn't see the point in having boxers if they were just going to be covered up with a binder. My brain works in strange ways, because I made sure my boxers were never on show anyway.

The binder roll up is a common problem especially with longer ones. I own a 997 also and the belt works well with me at work where i do wear one. If I'm not wearing a belt like in athletic wear I fold it up a little so that it stays in place if that don't work ill tuck it into my compression shorts that I wear underneath my shorts.
Oh how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying

Thanks everyone for your answers! I dont know if I should cut it or not, though, but I feel like everything would be so much easier if i did.. Like gym class for example. And its new too, so it feels so sad haha :P
EDIT: Okay so I cut it and its AMAZING, its like such a relief! I fell so much more comfortable, and I can move around without having to worry about it. The compression is the same, which is great!
Thank you guys for answering and helping me out :)

If you cut, you might try taking a bit off at a time. Don't want to get carried away. Besides you might like it at some odd length that someone else might not.
